Browse Forums Renovation + Home Improvement Re: Raising Ceiling Height 5Jul 22, 2019 7:49 am amilelka That would be a huge amount of work for just 30cm of extra ceiling height. If you're going to bother you may as well go all out and go for 3m ceilings. Also bedrooms don't need high ceilings, it's not worth the cost for them. Hi Amilelka, I also have the same thoughts but heating and cooling another 300mm along with the construction cost will be another cost blow out as well. Will still consider when I will start conversation with draftsman Re: Raising Ceiling Height 6Sep 24, 2020 5:06 pm Harry3810 Hi Everyone, I am looking for extensive renovation which includes raising celing heights from 2.4 mtrs to 2.7 mtrs for the entire house for 3 bedroom house with usual 2 living areas in South East Melbourne. Would appreciate if anyone can share there journey in similar extension project and can also highlight the cost involved in the entire project. Thanks heaps in advance. Harry Hey I exactly have the same interest. At this stage I only tend to vault the living/dining area and leave the rest of the house as it is. Let me know how your project goes please. Re: Raising Ceiling Height 7Sep 26, 2020 10:56 am simples way to achieve the result is to remove the whole roof and build up the walls and make a new roof but a huge expense for no extra living space.... instead of higher flat ceilings throughout the whole house consider a raked ceiling in the major rooms that leaves the same height along the edge of the wall with sloped ceiling in one or both directions ..check out scissor trusses, shed, coffered or tray ceiling for a detailed description of other ideas...even a small amount of extra height in the centre or along one side of the ceiling makes a great difference to the spacious feeling and/or consider roof windows Unless the room is for storage then it's non compliant BCA V2 2019 S3 P3.8 You have 2 options 1.
