The top pipe has a removable meshed section that allows water to 'filter' through to the tank. It is claimed to be a filtration system but best practice dictates that organic and other debris must not be allowed to enter a wet system to decompose and make the water stagnant. Leaf diverters should be fitted to downpipes that divert to a wet system. EDIT: The inflow system that connects to the lower downpipe can be seen in the link below. https://www.kingspan.com/au/en-au/produ ... filtration 3in1 Supadiverta. Ill cut back some more earth and get a y or t on the 100mm side and join it in Thanks again Re: Running garden tap drain into water tank overflow pipe 5Jul 19, 2019 2:00 pm amckern the tank is 1/2 full and the filter is pipe is a hair pin bend with the filter at the top of bend. Are you saying that the only mesh on the wet system is at the top of the pipe where it discharges into the tank? 3in1 Supadiverta. Rainwater Harvesting Best Practice using syphonic drainage. Are you saying that the only mesh on the wet system is at the top of the pipe where it discharges into the tank? I cant stick my head in to have a clear look but it looks and feels like a right square bracket ] with the mesh at the top left. There is a reasonable distance from the hole in the top of the tank to the higher pipe outlet and i cant peer in far enough to see if its fully connected, but the upper pipe has a mesh filter brand molded into the access screw cap Re: Running garden tap drain into water tank overflow pipe 7Apr 16, 2020 12:17 am A late addition to this thread but having a vertical riser discharging through a meshed 'filter' screen inside a tank makes as much sense as having a first flush diverter fitted to the top of a wet system's vertical riser (see second photo below) rather than have it fitted to the downpipe.....but that is how nearly all first flush diverters are fitted because it is a case of monkey see, monkey do. Many northern regions in Australia mandate the fitting of mosquito proof leaf diverters to wet system downpipes but it should be mandated in all regions. Anyone who has flushed a wet system that allows organic matter and other debris to enter the system knows how much muck accumulates in the pipe plus allowing mosquitoes access to the standing water in the downpipes is not a good idea! Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Unless drained, wet systems remain full of water to either the height of the vertical riser or to the height of a uselessly positioned first flush diverter. When it next rains, the settled water in the riser fills the first flush diverter while the first flush is still in the downpipe at the other end of the wet system.....but on its way to the tank! Why don't plumbers understand this? Most first flush 'drippers' also drain 4-5 litres per hour during the entire rain event which includes periods when it isn't raining, making such uselessly positioned first flush diverters a waste of water as well as money. Cheers. 0 1664 Thanks for that, the PVC pipe is still about 40cm below ground level and it sticks out of the sand with no end cap or anything on it just open pipe, is this the finished… 2 9531 Much a do about nothing. You can see the fall heading to the actual drains. Stormwater ingress will be minimal and it's far better to have the top sitting flush rather… 12 6181 |
