Building with Wisdom Homes

We are building in Box Hill NSW (Hills Council) and going into construction phase soon as all paperwork is now complete

What has your experience been with site supervisors as we will get our allocated shortly. If you have names and experience details with site supervisors can you PM me details so I know what to expect

Hi Guys,

Trying to get my head around the required cabling for double storey (ambassador 36), its all confusing for me, not an expert.
How many data points you have? I am thinking to future proof the house.
How much is wisdom charging for extra data points than what they offer.
Is it Hills Home Hub that wisdom installs? didnt read great reviews about it, and also it is hard to expand in future if you want to.
Does wisdom allows to have our own cabling? by a licensed one?

Any advise is greatly appreciated.

My electrical was signed off in Aug '18.
Single data point $140, double $260, inc GST.
As to how many you need purely comes down to own preference. Do lots of research. Wireless these days is pretty common for most applications and heaps of info on this forum. I still put one in each bedroom for kids studying, multiple at each point where there are tv's and entertainment consoles and multiple in home study for PC's and printers etc. Probably overkill but easy to do now than regret later. Also depends how tech savvy you are.
Haven't heard of anyone doing own cabling and don't think Wisdom would allow as they are carrying the builder warranty.

I am not a tech savvy, but trying to future proof as much as I can regards to cabling. Started reading in whirlpool, and getting better idea now.
My only concern is, I am reading many complaints about Hills Home Hub, and is not flexible in expanding later. I was wondering if can opt out of HHH, what options do we have?
I want to go well prepared when I go for electricals.
Do you know anything about Hills Home Hub?

I would agree and tend to stay away from the Hills Home hub.

I would agree with less data points. You need at least one near a tv and one upstairs if it is a two storey home.

I think most people would prefer to invest the money in a high speed wireless setup such as a mesh. Even for home entertainment. IoT etc. Most things would be streaming in the future.

I think it's a waste to have multiple in each room. The printer definitely does not need is own data point.

I do not think there should be one in the children bedrooms. Encourage them to go out or mobile. Highspeed wireless is more than enough I think.

You can only do cabling with their subcontractor or post handover I think.

For the people who discipline their child with "go to your room" . The kid could be thinking. Great! Social media and high speed gaming. (joking).

When we did our selections we did not discuss HHH. I think it is best to stay away from the HHH unless you really need hard wiring and telephone cabling. We live in a rental at the moment with one and we only use wireless. The NBN is patched into the HHH but does not need to be.

For anyone using this? Do you find that it gets updated? We seem to be missing updates from the Site Supervisor that were meant to take place every Thursday. (Majority of times, it never happens). The Wisdome Customer Portal does not seem to get updated either. There's no updated pictures (which is what the customer rep said would happen), etc.

We get updates via sms mostly, sometimes verbal when we have questions. Like you, our portal has no updates or photos. It must depend on the SS. Maybe site supervisers have too many jobs to be able to update our portals.

Thanks GLO - i saw some pics on a blog and it had the bulkheads at frame stage and i noticed ours didn't have this.

Edited: SS just replied and confirmed this will be installed after fit offs ... good to know!

We had some that were done and some that were overlooked (over fridge and buttlers). Just escalated to SS who got them done afterwards but did delay things a little so best to remind them exactly where you expect the bulkheads to be - never assume.

Thank you jqcc0 - i wasn't sure whether it was a "silly" question to ask SS or not. But gut instinct said to ask anyway! He emailed back and confirmed it will be done after fit offs. It sure is. As with any industry there is often an assumption that the customer understands the terminology and process, but you will need to do your research, listen to your gut and probably take on the role of Project Manager if there is any chance of keeping to the timeline. Raise any concerns early and often

Hi all, has any one had provisioning to hard wire (power) WiFi smart video door bell like Ring or Nest. If so what provisioning should i request for. I am hoping to avoid asking for a normal door bell and retro fit the wifi door bell.

we couldn't decide what we want to install so we asked for a normal door bell and will swap it out later.

The other option is something like Ring Elite which run power over ethernet, so I assume you can just request a data point where you want your door bell located.

POE is a nice option let me dig some more.
its just i am bit wary of subscription services like Ring which force me to pay for footage thinking of using ones that support local or personal cloud storage like this Netamo (https://www.netatmo.com/en-eu/security/doorbell/specifications) though doesn't support POE or batter needs hardwired power.
Other option get the door bell but can't get the door bell approved past my partner :-(
