You might reconsider using a pressure cleaner on the limecrete.... Unless you want to gouge holes into it? I'm talking with a cheap home use Karcher and from a distance. Are you trying to say that Limecrete is not strong enough to be cleaned with a basic pressure cleaner? Re: KDR - New Choice Homes Custom design - Perth, WA 144Jul 07, 2019 8:05 pm I think structuralbimguy is confused with liquid limestone, it can be softer than concrete due to the limestone base. Limecrete is simply a decorative concrete supplier so you will have no issues. You probably would want to be careful with a pressure cleaner on it. It’s sort of gone out of fashion now, you don’t really see it done much anymore. Re: KDR - New Choice Homes Custom design - Perth, WA 147Jul 09, 2019 7:54 pm Went well today. Around 20 minor cosmetic items that need rectification prior to handover. They had already picked up things that I hadn't noticed, like a couple of missing clips off downpipes, etc. The shelving hasn't been installed in the scullery, which was probably a good thing for us anyway as we always planned to remove the basic shelves and have custom cabinetry done, so they're going to give us a credit back for the shelving (I'm not expecting much...) Working towards 2nd inspection mid-next week and handover shortly after, providing the bank can organise their inspection and payment. Re: KDR - New Choice Homes Custom design - Perth, WA 148Jul 09, 2019 8:08 pm Hi thme, Just wondering how much it cost to upgrade to the restoration red bricks? I would like to add them as a feature to our facade but not sure of the extra cost. Thanks! Re: KDR - New Choice Homes Custom design - Perth, WA 149Jul 09, 2019 8:17 pm Not too sure sorry. Our entire house is single course face brick. With our build they priced it as part of the whole contract price, so I couldn’t tell you the individual price as such. When we were shopping around prior to going with New Choice we did get quotes from other Perth builders and they priced the single course face brick as a $6k upgrade. I think if you were doing pillars out the front or maybe a feature section it wouldn’t be a huge cost. Sounds good to me Re: KDR - New Choice Homes Custom design - Perth, WA 152Jul 17, 2019 2:30 pm thme Final inspection and handover booked in for tomorrow. Can't wait to get started on the painting and book in the driveway etc. Congratulations! Finally at the finish line! Re: KDR - New Choice Homes Custom design - Perth, WA 155Jul 18, 2019 7:41 pm New Choice have been fantastic. Nothing has been too much trouble and on numerous occasions they’ve gone out of their way to ensure that everything has been done well for us. Even today we had the construction manager come through after handover to check everything over again and make sure that we were happy. He picked up on a few things that were deficient and they’re going to get them sorted over the coming weeks. Re: KDR - New Choice Homes Custom design - Perth, WA 156Jul 21, 2019 10:27 pm I have just read through your whole thread, thank you for posting. We are also building through New Choice for a KDRB - demo next week - and thrilled to read how fast and smooth your build has gone! Keep posting after handover because I'm keen to see your finished build. Re: KDR - New Choice Homes Custom design - Perth, WA 158Jul 21, 2019 10:55 pm Yes the whole build is alabaster except the island bench which is Calacatta Gold. The execution of the 2 stone colours in the kitchen don’t quite look right, however you wouldn’t pick it up unless it was pointed out. I think it’s because the timber colour overheads reflect a bit of the brown tones down onto the stone and it looks a little bit pinkish... Just finished sealing the walls. I went with alabaster for our kitchen and scullery as I wanted the warmer look but it has been hard finding examples of it in situ. Urgh to sealing. We are going to have to time our sealing just before floors ( vinyl planks and carpets sourced through NCH) go in. Re: KDR - New Choice Homes Custom design - Perth, WA 160Jul 21, 2019 11:49 pm We decided to do our own floor coverings in the end. We were thinking about doing carpet with them, however their markup was just too much. They wanted $6,200 for the 4 bedrooms and theatre and we ended up getting it directly through Trevor’s for $3,600..... also, with the carpet going in before the timber it meant that they would have had to come back later and fix up the areas where the carpet joins to the timber in the doorways. I got the impression this was going to be messy. If you want any extra photos or having any questions along the way feel free to ask.
