What else can be used to mask joint cracking? I have never seen this anywhere else and it is so chunky! Thinking there is surely a better looking solution!!!?? There are 2 options. You flush in the Rondo control joint and then fill with polyurethane. They've opted for the bottom example. Re: Reno expansion Joint on stairwell 8Jul 18, 2019 7:50 pm To mask the joint I would apply Polyurethane to the V Joint. Also has 25+- movement so it won't crack or pull away. You will just have a concaved line as a feature which is better than what you see in the photo. To my understanding early saw cuts are to control shrinkage cracks, so doing them now would be pointless.
