Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 13, 2019 11:05 am Long time member but haven't posted for a while. Just wanting some feedback from anyone else here who has built The Edge with Rawson or in fact built anything with Rawson and had issues. We built our property 4 years ago and have some significant structural issues and leaks in our house. Im just wanting to find out if anyone else has had any serious issues with their build and how you found they were at handling this. Specifically has anyone ended up in fair trading or NCAT? We are on a pretty tight deadline to provide information and reports which is difficult when fresh rain means new damage. Getting very frustrated with the process. That said I'm not going to be rushed as I need to get this sorted correctly this time and we need our house fixed and water tight which unfortunately we haven’t been able to achieve that yet in 4 years. I guess I just want to hear what others experienced and if there is a light to the end of this tunnel! Or indeed if anyone has built with another builder and had major issues. Would just love some feedback. PM if you want. Re: Rawson Homes The Edge Build problems 2Jun 14, 2019 2:04 pm Jeez sorry to hear! When you spend so much $ there seems to be minimal consumer protection which is worrying in this industry. Rawson seem to have a good reputation, but I guess like anyone they get busy and only prioritise work which will keep $ coming in more so then rectifying work to withhold their reputation. What issues are you having, is it related to the fall/pitch of the roof (design issue with the edge?) or just leaks due to gaps etc? Re: Rawson Homes The Edge Build problems 3Jun 14, 2019 3:02 pm Yep so true. If it was a 10th of the cost and a car there is such a thing as a lemon law and we would have gotten a full refund! Unfortunately we built more of a swimming pool than a home it seems. Combination of faulty windows, faulty flashings, installation issues with the windows and cladding, faulty bricks, faulty mortar, faulty brickwork. Too much to summarise. Lots of issues over a long period of time. So yeah pretty significant problems. What was really dissapointing was the bigger and longer the problem went on the more we got push back. I was told to "calm down" at one point and that jumping up and down was not going to fix it. I have that in a text! So condascending. I might add this was after our house had been pulled apart for 3 months. When I say pulled apart, gyprock taken off on the whole eastern wall, office carpet, cabinets, everything stripped. We paid all that money to live like that. And that was more than once that was done. To say it has been horrendous is an understatement. I don't know why but I actually thought given that they might actually be co-operative with us given the extent of the problems. But no. The warm and fluffy you get in the sales office doesnt go beyond when you sign the contract. From then on it is push and shove right to the bitter, bitter end. And the more people that contact me the more I'm seeing that. I know there is always "that" build. Well ours was that one. Just wish they would man up, take responsibility and own the fact that they havent fixed it and they can't fix it.
