Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building with weatherboard (or alternative) - Adelaide 2May 30, 2019 4:26 pm Have a good think about what type of weatherboard you are after. Chamfer board, rusticated, splayed etc. Then the finish. Nails hidden you can use timber or weathertex etc. Don't care then fibre cement. Visual joins strips of pvc or butt ended boards. Corner finishes, window trims and external architraves. Some cladding requires an air gap between wall wrap and framing, some can't be installed on steel frames. Anybody can install these materials. Just need to take care about sealing up wall wraps and penetrations to stop draughts. After all that I'm installing weathertex but using sikaflex adhesive and hidden nails to install. Solid corner block etc Re: Building with weatherboard (or alternative) - Adelaide 4May 31, 2019 4:31 pm A different perspective on fc cladding, I am using cemintel territory on our build. Concealed fixings, preformed corners, and no painting (pre-finished panels). It's a glamour to work with, but your design needs to take into account where the joins are located as double studs are needed.
