Re: Building Contract VIC - (HIA + Special Conditions) 5May 16, 2019 8:20 am Be aware of your own costs like rent and interest of any delays and compare these to the liquidated damages per working day in the building contract. If you ask the builder to correct defects identified during the build they can use any imbalance in such costs to pressure you to accept poor workmanship etc. In my case Metricons liquidated damages was $30 per working day but my actual costs of delay were about $300 per calendar day. Something to consider before you sign, particularly with volume builders like Metricon who are not effectively resourced nor motivated enough to check their contractors workmanship. In the end my extra costs for Metricon’s promised 42 week build that was delayed to handover after 85 weeks after major defects were identified by Housespect and NSWDFT was about $80,000. Take care! You talk about deletions, are they variations or PS and PC adjustments? pleas list them 1 16569 10 12322 Unless there is something in special conditions the builder does not have to give you timeline.
