Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 Apr 28, 2019 9:31 pm We're buildilng a house and I'm getting two big 2.4m high x 6m wide Stacker Doors for our Living & Kitchen area that flows out onto our Alfresco. I'm just trying to decide whether to put in Insect Mesh Screen or Security Screen (Crimsafe Alternative). I just don't want it to block the views and the breezes. Our current house has the diamond grill with insect mesh screening. Although we have cross ventilation, we find it blocks out a whole lot of breezes. As soon as we step outside the doors we feel the beautiful breeze but back inside our house it's so stale and warm! Can anyone tell me which might be better for views & breezes? Re: Security Screens Vs. Insect Screens 2Apr 30, 2019 12:05 pm Crimsafe are easier to clean. IMO the view and breeze is better with crimsafe as it does not catch much debris/dust. If security is not an issue then price difference is much in favour of insect mesh. Re: Security Screens Vs. Insect Screens 3May 01, 2019 11:25 am There are substitutes for security which will maintain the view, but really none when you have the door open and rely on the flyscreen to keep insects out. The only possible improvement would be to have a roller style flyscreen which will not be in view unless it is in use. But these are not as robust as the framed style because they can collapse in the wind and suffer badly from pets and small children. Costwise Crimsafe expensive, roller screens expensive. You could get horizontal roller screens at say 1500mm each in width and just let them dangle... cheap but 95% effective.
