That was a consideration I had but still single for now so I should be safe for the next few years. lol Damn! You're a single person building a 52 Square house? You planing on living there by yourself? 6 lol! I've always wanted a big family hence the bigger house, but I seem to always fall into the friendzone hence why it's just me for now. So upkeep should be easy. (I hope!) haha Realistically I'll probably rent out a room or two and get some income. The house would also be too quiet otherwise. Re: Metricon Sentosa 52 Modified 72Mar 08, 2019 9:50 am Matchmaking aside, I'm looking forward to seeing how this progresses! Particularly the smart home options... there's so much that can be done post-handover it's a little overwhelming, so will be interesting to see what direction you take Re: Metricon Sentosa 52 Modified 73Mar 08, 2019 11:35 am KingTaco Matchmaking aside, I'm looking forward to seeing how this progresses! Of all places to find a partner eh? Hmm, the problem with smart home is that it's still quite new too. I just bought a logitech harmony remote control when they had their 40% off sale at jb hifi. Should help with some of the features that google home hub might have trouble with. Gonna make sure my air con are smart compatible. Would be nice to just control with my voice as opposed to finding the remote in the dark. lol What were the smart home features were you hoping to do? Re: Metricon Sentosa 52 Modified 74Mar 08, 2019 4:29 pm I've got the logitech harmony as well, and it sure makes it easy, particularly when you have 4 different video sources:-P Have you seen Iron Man? I would like Jarvis, if you can buy that somewhere... I'm still trying to decide between Google, Alexa and Apple, plus there are probably some good ones none of us have even heard of. The main smart home things I'm looking at so far are: - CCTV which I can view from my phone - Doorbell which I can view from phone - Some wi-fi connected light switches - I have to check my air con controller to see if I can pre-heat or cool house prior to arriving home using the app - Maybe smart door locks on the front and internal garage door These are more bucket-listy things... - internal motion detect sensor lights - smart coffee maker - aaaaand, going back to Iron Man... electric window shades/blinds/curtains. I love the idea of opening or closing them by voice command Re: Metricon Sentosa 52 Modified 75Mar 13, 2019 8:41 am KingTaco I've got the logitech harmony as well, and it sure makes it easy, particularly when you have 4 different video sources:-P Have you seen Iron Man? I love the idea of opening or closing them by voice command Apologies for the late reply, was in Singapore over the long weekend. I'm the same too. Will be getting or already getting: Smart door lock Smart doorbell CCTV and light combo (the ring system) Air con Smart garage door lock system Smart switches electric fireplace I upgraded my heating to include a smart feature I already have motion sensor for my stair lights For the blinds I believe there's already a battery operated system available now. I saw it on kickstarter once For the lights, I will be doing that waaay later down the line. Smart coffee maker sounds cool though, do they even exist? Lol Re: Metricon Sentosa 52 Modified 76Mar 16, 2019 10:13 pm That smart garage door lock system... do you mean the internal door from the garage into the house? Yeah i've seen that battery operated blinds system... I like the look of it! You bet there are! I'm not a coffee drinker but my wife is, so it's more something for her. Here's a good site with a few snappy comparisons: https://ideaing.com/ideas/best-smart-coffee-makers/ Re: Metricon Sentosa 52 Modified 77Mar 18, 2019 9:10 am KingTaco That smart garage door lock system... do you mean the internal door from the garage into the house? The upgraded model they had allows you to use your phone and has a bolt for the lock. Wow, didn't expect the smart coffee makers to be that reasonably priced. niceee Really bummed, my external house selection got rejected. What the developers want is so ugly. They wanted half of the 1st floor on the front of the house to be brick and the rest of the 1st floor is rendered. wtf. uggggs. I wanted all of the 1st floor to be rendered Re: Metricon Sentosa 52 Modified 78Mar 18, 2019 9:33 am Oh that is disappointing when you can't have the facade choices you want. Developers get way too involved in this sort of decision making. Hopefully you can come up with a compromise you are happy with. Might look at doing that. Only downside is I'm wasting money on the bricks. Had a drive by my new neighbourhood late at night over the weekend. Loving how bright my corner plot is. Glad I have street lamps nearby, not many of them do.
