Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Mar 03, 2019 8:54 pm Hello All, we are going through the process of building our new home. We have asked the builder to do just a standard hanging rail fit out that comes with the home so we can fit it out ourselves. Just looking for inspiration. What have people on here done? can you show me your Walk In Robe? Here is a snapshot of our WIR. its is 2950 x 2910. I don't have loads of shoes, do have quite a few long items. I am thinking of somehow incorporating the draws in here so I don't have to have a tall boy in the master bedroom. It's usually just a shelf and a single rail that is too low to double rail underneath anyway. I have one side double railed for tops, jackets etc and handbags (I hang my larger handbags from s hooks on a rail), one end single rail for pants and dresses, and one side floor-ceiling shelving for shoes and clutch bags. No drawers as I have a separate dresser in the bedroom for drawer space. I would start by assessing your needs - how many linear metres of hanging do you need, and at what height, what goes on shelves, and how much drawer space do you need. Everyone's needs are different. We got our single rail raised to 2mtrs high from the standard so we can move in with something at least then work on a fit out. Re: Show us your Walk in Robe... 4Mar 08, 2019 2:11 am I removed the fitout that the builder quoted (Just a hanging rail and a bank of shelves) and I was refunded about 30% of what it cost me to go to a designer and get it added to my building quote (which included builders 20% mark up) Go onto the Ikea website and use their design tool for a robe, its quite fun and It gives you an idea of what you can get made.
