You are right, I couldn’t tell whether that is real image or 3D render. I was only using that as a reference, just incase I wasn’t being clear. Using your upper estimate, meaning if the recessed ceiling is approx 4 x 4 : 16 x 3 areas : 48 m2 x $100 : $4,800 as a rough estimate. Reason why I asked is, I am still going through the plan and quote finalisation with my builder. I know what I am getting creditted for the stuff I am removing. But the new additions are being itemised including this recessed ceiling and other things. On a slightly different topic, would you say a concrete stair without storeroom underneath is only 25% cheaper compared to a single spine stair with timber treads? Both have the number of treads (17) and L shaped. I am being quoted $15k for the concrete and $20k for the single spine Re: Recessed ceiling cost 5Feb 27, 2019 9:28 am When you remove an item (even trades) the builder usually hangs on to his profit which is not credited back to you Generally they are happy to remove/change items, they credit back less and charge more , IMO, Money for jam OT, Unfortunately, the time to negotiate is before you sign, Stairs are second to Site works, in price hikes and pricing anomalies, you're locked in and they can't build a house without stairs Concrete stairs offer huge profits ( $500 in materials, Formwork is reused, poured in a day,etc,etc...work it out ) goodluck Designer,Engineer (Civil,Const & Envir),Builder,Concrete & Masonry Contract.Struct Repairs Re: Recessed ceiling cost 6Mar 10, 2019 8:23 pm Hi Gerro, Thanks for sharing the information! Thanks for your advice. So the quote actually came in very close to your upper estimate range. They are charging me per room, approximately $1,900 for the recessed ceiling with trough lighting (incl the lights). Hi Stuey, think you’ve got a couple of options here you’d just need to decide your preference/which options suits best. And is it possible to disconnect the duct joined to the vent from inside the house, without going into the roof cavity? 0 5822 |
