Browse Forums DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair 1 Feb 23, 2019 3:06 pm Hi, As you can see in the picture where my driveway meets my front verandah there's some broken tiles. They've been like this for years (before we bought the house) and not gotten any worse. I'm not sure what the cause is. There used to be a row of 2 storey high pine trees in that grass (the closest would have been about 2m away) which I've since remove which may have been the cause. Could also be someone's hit it with a car door as when parked on the driveway the front passenger door will hit it if fully open. Nevertheless I'm looking to fix. Is retiling the only option? Could I potentially reattach the pieces and fill the gaps? Is it likely to happen again if I fix? My thoughts are the cause is your concrete driveway expanding. Based on the first image and the way the tile has cracked. If it’s been like this for years, I would simply get the right glue and glue them back on. For the piece that is on the angle, simply grind a part of the bottom of the tile off so the concrete expansion does not make it pop off again. Hope this help. There should have been an expansion barrier between the tiles and the concrete and this would have minimized this happening. Firstly the ableflex that has been installed needs (manufactures specification) a sealant cap over the top, preventing water draining down between the slab and the… 3 7794 1 6637 |
