Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Madison 35 by Clarendon Homes - Slab poured 44Feb 15, 2019 9:39 pm Exciting times! I went to visit the site on Thursday and they had started the frame - just the kitchen and part of the back wall were up but good to see. We went out again this afternoon and they've basically completed the ground floor. Should have upstairs and roof truss completed next week. We met our neighbours across the road and they're a lovely couple, soon to move in as theirs only has 2 weeks remaining. Incidentally, we happen to also be living right near each other right now - they live only a couple of streets away from our current house. What are the odds! Re: Madison 35 by Clarendon Homes - framing 46Feb 18, 2019 3:17 am TiredHalo Nice. It is odd, we still don't have a fence or any signage to indicate our build is a Clarendon one. Maybe once the frame goes up we'll get one. Could be that we don't have bricks too. We don't have a fence too. How each person works is so different. Re: Madison 35 by Clarendon Homes - framing 47Feb 18, 2019 3:20 am [quote="KingTaco"]We have a slab! We got lucky with the weather and they managed to pour it on Thursday 7 February. They're now running our build in tandem with the one that's two blocks over. We have to wait for them to (start and) finish their frame until they start on ours, but at least it gives our slab a chance to cure. In any case, all their framing materials are already on site so it shouldn't be too long until theirs is up. We required three steel beams on the ground floor - one at the front and side of the garage, the other spanning the meals/family room. Unfortunately, the company our builder uses for galvanising is inundated with work at the moment, so we're still waiting on the garage beam before the rest of the frame can be completed. It kind of sucks, but that's the nature of things and not a big drama. It's been quite quick so far so rather than being ahead of schedule, we'll now be back on schedule. Fingers crossed the suggested wild weather coming this weekend doesn't pay us much attention! Second week zero progress even with such good weather. No sign of Frames steels etc on work area. Just nothing for us. Are you using any building inspector during construction phase? Re: Madison 35 by Clarendon Homes - framing 50Feb 21, 2019 10:10 pm Thanks, same to you! It's frustrating not knowing what's going on hey. Plus you want to know every second someone is scheduled to be at the site in case there's some progress to be seen! We're using All Inspect - they're a Brisbane company who had pretty good reviews. I've had the slab inspected with them and their communication is exceptional, they're very helpful (giving plenty of advice when sought) and super prompt at both communicating and arranging things with Clarendon. Very impressed so far. I'm not sure they cover up to the Sunshine Coast though. If you like I can pass on some pricing I got from a few of the company's I spoke with Re: Madison 35 by Clarendon Homes - framing 51Feb 21, 2019 10:38 pm KingTaco Thanks, same to you! Re: Madison 35 by Clarendon Homes - framing 54Feb 22, 2019 7:57 pm Darbecca were one of the 6 I contacted back in mid-January and I never heard back from them. I still haven't as a matter of fact! Their reviews are good which is why they were on my list to start with, but I can only judge them from my experience. MrsAJ I've sent you a message with those details Re: Madison 35 by Clarendon Homes - framing 55Feb 24, 2019 8:33 pm Yeah but Allinspect are very good so you won't have any issues. Re: Madison 35 by Clarendon Homes - framing 56Feb 26, 2019 7:15 pm Re: Madison 35 by Clarendon Homes - framing 57Feb 26, 2019 8:01 pm I visited the site today and was very pleasantly surprised - all the framing is complete and the last few trusses for the roof were being finished off. It should easily have been completed today. Workers were also on site installing the scaffolding for the upstairs roof. Looking good! It's more exciting when you get closer to the finishing stages. Looking forward to see more photos on the progress of your build. Enjoy the journey 😊 Re: Madison 35 by Clarendon Homes - framing 60Feb 27, 2019 10:18 pm Apparently they installed the windows today! Which is interesting, considering the roof isn't on yet... and the guys that installed the scaffold were climbing in and out of the master window cavity to reach the scaffold, which now won't be possible for the roof and gutter installers... but good progress! the stair balustrades? There is nothing special about these and I imagine literally every stair installer will be able to do this. 1 3132 The two 15mm holes are obviously not compliant.
