Ie. If the trades you trust / prefer dont use it, then whats the point? - Does the BIM acutally give you instructions / concepts? The benefit I see fro constructions books is more the concepts (ie. supporting loads, weatherpoffing) rather than specific instructions (put x here to stop y). - Lastly - whats the cost in converting a non BIM dwg to a BIM ready DWG? Re: Detailed sequence of trades and tasks for new owner buil 8Feb 05, 2019 10:32 am Howser Thanks SBG, A few questions about BIM: 1. - If your designer doesnt support it, can you import a DWG and make it BIM ready? 2. - For an OB, apart from costings, what are the major benefits? Ie. If the trades you trust / prefer dont use it, then whats the point? 3.- Does the BIM acutally give you instructions / concepts? The benefit I see fro constructions books is more the concepts (ie. supporting loads, weatherpoffing) rather than specific instructions (put x here to stop y). 4.- Lastly - whats the cost in converting a non BIM dwg to a BIM ready DWG? 1. If you are starting from scratch pick the right software as It costs Time & money to covert any 2D Vector to BIM 3D (Solid Modelling Kernel) into a reliable Format. I suggest if your starting a new project pick Parasolid based BIM, as the next software advancement to come is automated simulations 2.Find Builders & Trades that do..... I get requests everyday from builders/trades for Bim Data and Models on projects, I also receive Cr@p file translations from other Architectural BIM Software and asked to extract data and to do the engineering. The same applies to BIM design as with building a house, If you have sh!t geometry & foundations respectively ..then watch out.. The job becomes a nightmare 3.For Instructions/details I use exploded Iso views with labels and notes I have a static (thousand details) book on engineering/Construction/Simulations that I take on site along with an ipad The Interactive 3D view linked to data wins out hands down 4. Cost varies depending on design complexity, data/proofs,Stages, etc I will put up the roof framework/Details/Quants that a builder/carpenter requested yesterday, cost about $350-$400? because the brickwork changed. I have to remeasure, redesign & recalculate the roof Timbers & Cladding for exact ordering quants hth Designer,Engineer (Civil,Const & Envir),Builder,Concrete & Masonry Contract.Struct Repairs Re: Detailed sequence of trades and tasks for new owner buil 9Feb 08, 2019 7:07 pm Howser Here's what to expect from a BIM Roof Model 2D plans, engineering details, layouts , notes , approximate quantities, cut length, data & 3D Model, etc Apologies for condensing 3 Pages into 1 page OT, The BIM Data can also be used, linked and transmitted to and from site throughout the build for checking, certification, etc More to follow hth Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Designer,Engineer (Civil,Const & Envir),Builder,Concrete & Masonry Contract.Struct Repairs Always get multiple quotes, no matter how reasonable/cheap you think it is.
