Yes we are having our appliance wall in blk cabinetry so would go... although I am now thinking of going back to my original plan- lighter stairs with the black balustrade (see pic). This will still tie in nicely with the blk appliance wall. A lighter staircase would allow the flooring people to restrain if needed to match the floors! Once our quotes come through I am going to go back to M studio to see the lighter stained stairs... I never thought stairs would be this complicated!! Re: Let’s talk staircases- Metricon build 12Jan 19, 2019 8:21 pm MLC Morning all, I am in the process of finalising all my colour and finishes choices, and need some help with my staircase. I am building a Metricon Vantage 35 which has a u shaped staircase with 2700 ceiling height. A wooden Vic ash staircase is included in our package which we will keep. We would have loved to upgrade to a glass balustrade but don’t have the extra $9k in the kitty to do this so have just kept the black iron balustrade for now. We’re having engineered boards thoughout the living area downstairs (Istanbul oak colour) and cat 4 carpet (earl grey colour). They advised us to go a dark stain (blk japan) in the staircase to hide iron balustrade. I am not sure as I prefer the lighter wooden stairs to hopefully match the floor. We have a large 3m high window at the top of the stairs so will get lots of natural light in downstairs. (Haven’t seen this in any displays!) * Can you change to a glass balustrade in the future? If yes, what is the best balustrade to get now to make it easy to do in the future? Many thanks for your help We took the gamble and chose a dark stain tread with light coloured floorboards. We are really happy with it. To help the stair treads look like they belong we added a black surround fireplace and black framed mirror in the formal lounge directly opposite. Here’s the link to the pic of the stairs showing the contrast to the floors. https://www.instagram.com/p/BoD2WlAgAFC ... 64o8gp277x Re: Let’s talk staircases- Metricon build 13Jan 19, 2019 8:29 pm Waldorf_Grange_Build MLC Morning all, I am in the process of finalising all my colour and finishes choices, and need some help with my staircase.
