You most definitely want to use HMR (high moisture resistance) particle board. 16mm thickness is more than adequate. Omg, just noticed. My previous message should read "go for 18 mm plywood". BWP grade plywood will be certainly preferred over HMR with its questionable chemicals they use to make particle boards moisture resistant.
