If practical build up and down the slope and have a two or three level house cut into the land (undercroft) . If you can do that then the additional cost of building on the site will be less as part of the structure will be doing the land retaining for you. To give you accurate advice send me the site plan and I can give you an idea of whats possible if you like. Please attache photos, or sketches or google earth shot, you may get help, ideas, or suggestions... Is the lot sloping front to back? Or is it sloping left to right?
