I have the same tiles and cannot seem to get them clean, when I mop I can see footprints and shoes marks even though no one has walked on the tile, it is really doing my head in. Hi there. Yes, we do have the dark grey tiles from HGWA. To be brutally honest it was the worst decision we made in the house. The rest of the house is great, pretty good quality, no issues with the build. But those bloody tiles will eventually send me around the bend! Like yours, they never seem clean. With the light shining on them you can see they are covered in footprints and shoe marks, even straight after mopping. The only way I have found to get them clean is with a product called Xtreme Clean which I bought from Crosby Tiles. I used it at its medium concentration, put it on the tiles, left for 10 minutes, used a scrubbing brush, then fresh water to clean it off and finally paper towel to dry them. You can only do small batches of tiles at a time so this process takes FOREVER. With this method they do get quite clean, and stay that way for maybe a day or two as long as they only have light traffic. Then they are back to their usual gross selves again. I’m sorry I can’t provide a definite fix for them. I have been meaning to complain long and loud to HGWA about them but never quite got around to it. I think I will send them an email today. Re: HGWA in Calleya Estate 430Oct 12, 2018 11:42 am I didn't pick the HG tiles, but chose black matte tiles from European.... the worst decision I have ever made! They're an absolute nightmare, plus I live in Baldivis which seems to have ridiculously hard water, so even after they're clean, plain water can dry looking like milk on them. We have black grout too, so I cant use any bleach based cleaners either, definitely my one major build regret Follow our HGWA build in Baldivis @ https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=83352&f=31&p=1604334#p1604334 Re: HGWA in Calleya Estate 431Dec 04, 2018 12:33 pm Hi there. An update on our HGWA charcoal floor tiles... We have lived with them for a year now and they suck! Always filthy, shows every footprint etc. So I contacted the builder and had a good old whinge. They tried to put me off, telling me to try this product or that product. I told them I'd tried them all. Then they said, "Well, we have sent professional cleaners out before to some houses when there has been a problem with the tiles". AH HA! So we are quite obviously not the first person to have issues with these tiles. We insisted on the tile cleaner coming out, who was well familiar with these tiles and said they have a coating on them which you will never get off with domestic products. He used acid and a cream cleanser and a big scrubbing machine. The tiles he tested look amazing and have stayed clean for a week now. He has now put in a quote to HGWA and once that is accepted he will come back and do the rest of the house. So get on to HGWA, complain long and loud and insist they rectify the issue. Hope that helps and good luck!! Re: HGWA in Calleya Estate 432Feb 23, 2019 6:33 pm Mrsxtro01 Hi there. An update on our HGWA charcoal floor tiles... Hope that helps and good luck!! An update on the crap HGWA tiles. So the tile cleaner fella came out and did a huge clean. And boy oh boy did those tiles look awesome! But two weeks later they looked just as crap as they did before the super dooper clean. The only way I have found to get rid of most of the marks is to mop them with a heavy duty cleaner, then mop them with hot water, then dry them with a towel. So labour intensive. Takes hours. This method will certainly get them cleaner, but definitely NOT spotless. Today I am trialing a steam cleaner. If I spray the tiles with a water and metho mix, then steam clean, then dry with a towel they look ok, not perfect, but vaguely acceptable (although my threshold for 'acceptable' is VERY low with these abomination of a tile!). Again, labour intensive but slightly less than the 2x mop method. *sigh* If I had the money they'd be ripped up and something decent put down. Finally in desperation I have just had a huge 7.5m x4.4m rug made to cover the tiles in my dining/living room. At the moment it is the best $700 I have spent. Re: HGWA in Calleya Estate 435Jun 04, 2019 4:22 pm Hi, I am building my new home with blueprint homes. They are using della vita products like benchtop, taps and even led lights. My main concern is their led downlights. They are giving me three 25W downlights in living area and kitchen. I am not sure if it is a good idea to have 25W led or replace them with clipsal 9W ones as some people said 25W is not good for residential purpose. Anyone used them in their home? Your suggestions will mean a lot to us. Cheers Deep Re: HGWA in Calleya Estate 436Jun 04, 2019 4:34 pm We took most of the LED lights out and replaced with batons as we wanted to get our own pendants etc. We did leave some LEDs above the kitchen and bathroom benches and in the toilets. They are 10W and plenty bright enough. On a separate note, if they are offering Della Vita floor tiles I (and others on this forum) strongly recommend against the charcoal grey. They are awful and will NEVER look clean. Re: HGWA in Calleya Estate 438Jun 04, 2019 4:43 pm Yes, they are the 10W Della Vita ones. I have 2x 10W LEDs over a 2.3m bench and that provides good lighting. I would think for 5 metres you would need at least 4x LEDs to provide sufficient lighting in a kitchen. Yeah they are actually giving me 1 x 25W in the kitchen and 2 X 25W in the living/dining. The size of 25W is bigger than other so if I need to replace that in future, I have to find something of same size of bigger. So instead of I am thinking of adding 6 x 15 W in the living/dining and 2 X 15W in the kitchen. Hope it will be enough |
