We also have the free $2999 carpet and tile upgrade. Just looking for a rough figure to upgrade to these tiles and espcielaly the extra laying cost for rectified Hi Rhani we've just done our tiles selection and we chose 600x600 rectified tiles for all main, bathrooms and laundry, all up is about $2800 extra. Thanks so much. $2800 extra to the allowance? Or $2800 extra just for the rectified? How much all up for your tiles if you don’t mind me asking Re: Coral Homes general build thread 11174Sep 18, 2018 7:44 pm Rhani89 Marcoola32_GC Rhani89 Hello, does anyone know the rough cost of upgrading our tiles to a 600x600 rectified edge porcelain tile for the main and a rectified 600x300 for the bathrooms and laundry? Thanks so much. $2800 extra to the allowance? Or $2800 extra just for the rectified? How much all up for your tiles if you don’t mind me asking Hi Rhani. Actually that was just the main living area (85m2) and yes that was extra, that is over and above whatever Coral's included pricing covered in the promotion we chose. Bear in mind that the tile we chose was the majestic ivory from National tiles and was selling at about $25m2. Looking at the builders range this was about the same price per m2 so we think that the extra was really just for the laying. So it worked out to be about an extra $32m2 over and above. In our laundry and wet areas we predominantly used a more expensive rectified tile, about $40m2 and these areas (52m2) averaged out at $48m2 over and above for the tile and the laying. So you can see that if you look at the difference in the tile price ($15) the m2 rate is about the same. So we reckon the extra laying price of the rectified tiles was in fact about $32m2. So if you find a rectified tile that is $50m2 our estimations would suggest that you would be up for $50-$25+$32=$57m2 extra for tile and laying. This was our scenario. We're not sure exactly how Coral work out their internal allowances, maybe different promos are calculated differently but we doubt it. So this should be a reasonably accurate guide to use. Hope that helps! Re: Coral Homes general build thread 11175Sep 25, 2018 7:10 pm Hi guys I need some advice about corals visual termite barrier and the yearly check. Is it worth it? They have picked up that our driveway is covering the visual and we need to rectify to keep our warranty. Re: Coral Homes general build thread 11176Sep 25, 2018 7:19 pm MrsJM Thanks for all the tips regarding the termite barrier! Much appreciated! Now if I could only remember to take a photo of the sticker under the sink as Ryalls suggested, so I could remember the name of the company to call! The driveway goes down on Monday and the stringlines are up to show levels.... but I am a bit worried as it looks like the side path is going to totally encase the visual barrier.... is this still okay so long as I get someone to come and spray or whatever they do? I let my husband talk to the ss before handover about the termites... i think I was off wiping out cupboards.... and as much as I love him... i shouldn't have left him to deal with such important stuff! He can't remember anything he was told! What was your outcome with this MrsJM Re: Coral Homes general build thread 11177Sep 25, 2018 7:22 pm Ryalls_first_build MrsJM Thanks for all the tips regarding the termite barrier! Much appreciated! Im not 100% but the termite people spoke to our concreters about how they were doing it and there were no issues. I 'think' so long as your weep holes are left exposed your ok. Might be wrong and in that case im stuffed lol Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ We had our yearly inspection today and have been told we need to cut out our driveway on the edges to expose the termite barrier. How have you gone with it Ryalls? Re: Coral Homes general build thread 11178Sep 26, 2018 10:23 am Hi all Building with coral. Just wondering, has anyone tried swapping the kitchen appliances to something else? I've been advised that I cannot source my own appliances and must go through coral which they then source it from Harvey norman commercial. There is a significant mark up on its price going through them. What have you been told in regards to this? Thanks Re: Coral Homes general build thread 11179Sep 26, 2018 10:24 am I should add that this a recent contract so perhaps it might be a recent change? He can't remember anything he was told! What was your outcome with this MrsJM We had to get termite mesh installed before the concrete was poured. Didn’t cost too much but was told my warrant would be void without it. Also had to get it around the alfresco before the deck was built. Trying to book in my second annual inspection to maintain the warranty but you need to book them ages in advance and they need internal access so it’s just impossible. But yeah probably worthwhile doing if you want to keep your warranty alive. Sometimes easements are unused and 24cm is not all that much. Good luck.
