I am also building with Fairmont but not at Northridge Estate, I'm at Angus Estate.

Can I participate in this thread lol? There is no thread for Angus Estate people, maybe tina can change the name hehe lol

We are at the stage of the frame and roof currently. Hopefully this week they will be staring the next phase of the construction.

We are near to our selection interview with pickard and supreme kitchen. We are doing our flooring with different contractor. Could you please suggest me which one is better Tiles Vs Timber? Please advise pros and cons of those material because we want to match our floor covering with cabinets. Could you please suggest us reasonable place so we can go there and have a look?Please suggest us costing as well as different types as well.

Sorry it’s been a while since I have posted anything on the forum, we are at framing stage as of today atleast I know the size of the house now 😀. I’m not worried with my driveway crossover now as it doesn’t align with my garage, is anyone facing the same problem? Will keep you posted more

Hi Rajan,

We are also doing our own flooring. We have opted to go with tiling for our living area and carpet for our bedrooms. The house we currently live in has laminate floorboards and we don't like it as over the last 6 years there has been signs of it started to retract and gaps appearing between the boards. In saying that it may be because they used cheap material but i am not too sure.
I know that the cons of having tiling is that in winter the floors will be really cold and also that it is more hazardous and prone to slip on (if you go for the high gloss ones). Both options have their pros and cons but it really depends on what you can and can't live without.

We are going with Carpet Selection Centre on Main North Rd https://carpetselectioncentre.com.au/ as they were the cheapest quote but also nice when dealing with them. Speak to Zac if you go there he is really helpful. They also do the laminate flooring but as we are tiling we won't be using them for that.

Still doing research on tilers and what tile we want as we have some time to make that decision.

How exciting! i noticed a couple of houses wrapped and ready for bricklaying! The issue i have with my drive way is that it is meant to be a double driveway but the entryway looks more like 1.5 cars can fit

i will have to pay to get the entrance extended to fit two cars

We decided to go with them for stormwater as our house is 2 storey so easier to just use their contractors. We are doing our own landscaping and driveways as well but i won't be looking into that til the later stages. I have done a bit of research on concreting for driveways in SA and have found the pricing really varies depending on the material you want to use. It seems that the standard normal cement is around $60-$65 per sqm - this is considered very cheap and is a good price if you can find someone who will do this price. In saying that we are considering aggregated concrete which is more expensive but still haven't made the decision on that yet. With the fencing you will need to discuss this with your neighbours on either side as you will need to split the cost with them for that.

I am still awaiting for my finances to be approved. The broker said it should be this week but who knows. Our council approval has come through so it’s just the last piece of the puzzle for us.
Would be great if you could share the quotes that you have gotten!
I drove through the estate on the wkend and a few houses have started their bricks! Lots of progress and they have released the third lot of land as well.

It was good with pickard but we didnt like supreme. We have not finished yet with supreme. Tomorrow is our next appointment. Next week is our final building interview. Could you please let me know more brief about final building interview? Are we getting the electrical appointment on that same day? How long does it take. How much would be the variation for electrical appliances roughly? Please let me know. I find selection process really stressful.

We didn’t really enjoy supreme kitchens either but I think it was more the consultant we had.
Have you received your layout in the mail to draw in your electrical plan yet? You need to submit this to Fairmont a wk before your fbi. They will go through it with you on the day. You will also select your external colours and materials and they will go through all your selection choices and make you sign a lot of paperwork. Make sure you talk to them about your termite treatment and they will also talk to you about nbn and all the other misc stuff. Don’t stress too much ours went for 2 hours and it went really fast.

We feel the same with consultant. We already submitted our tentative plan to them but I am not to sure about how they are going to charge for lights and bulbs. Are you guys go for NBN extra 1200 dollar? Is it worth to go with them? Please suggest anything before we head to FBI.

It feels like it’s taken a very long time for the FHOG to come through? That’s so strange!
We only just signed off on the loan paperwork and sent it off on Friday so now we need an email from the bank stating they received it and are ready to release the funds to forward to Fairmont. Hopefully the final step for us!

A couple of houses look like they are in lock up stage already which is really exciting! Lots of progress in the estate.. just no progress on our lands lol

Sorry I didn’t get back to you Rajan. How did your FBI go?
