We are very happy with the work they did. We had asbestos and they managed that well. We also had mature trees on site that we wished to retain and they were careful not to damage them and gave a wide area around for the roots. Sue was very helpful to work with regarding scheduling and disconnections. They site was left in a good way. On a personal note the guys working on the site were really kind and considerate, my very ill father wanted to visit to see the action but was unable to physically get out of the car, the workers noticed this and moved a truck so that he would have a clear view. from within the car. I can't compare to other companies but would use them again. Re: Sydney Demolition Companies - Any Recommendations? 6Aug 27, 2018 5:03 pm Thanks Jim (I suppose!) It is so comforting to be reading these forums, pick up from experiences. However so much to read and research. We are quite early in the stage, at least about 3-4 months away from demolition. This quoting process was more for budgeting for myself Agree on the surface all seem the same but cheapest is always isn't the best. How were the others in the same range of Site Demolition? I will wrangle them up as well - thanks for your research. How are far you in the process? Re: Sydney Demolition Companies - Any Recommendations? 7Aug 27, 2018 10:51 pm I'd just like to thanks to you all for the information as well as its something we'll have to consider soon too. Do they give you an idea on how long it will take? I thought a couple of days but I've seen one recently take over a week. Also, what about the temporary fencing around the property? Re: Sydney Demolition Companies - Any Recommendations? 8Sep 11, 2018 11:51 am I am in Melbourne so can't recommend our demolisher as they are local, but they were excellent and took great care. I got a good feeling from their care and attention to detail during the quoting process, something I didn't get from some of the others . Our house was not as nice as yours, but we put ads on gumtree and ebay and sold a lot of fixtures and fittings - doors, windows, hot water, flooring, etc etc etc - made quite a few thousand $. It was a bit like that TV show American Pickers - people came in with tools and took all sorts of things, even plants from the garden - "How much for that?".. "$50"...."I'll take it" The demolition took quite a while as there were various stages - service removal (had to wait for gas/elec companies), permits, then asbestos removal, other teams came is to take other stuff before the big machinery came - took over 6 weeks all up. Fencing was easy, got a few quotes and they were all around $360 for max 6 months, and installed with a days notice Re: Sydney Demolition Companies - Any Recommendations? 9Sep 11, 2018 11:57 am So I finally got two more quotes and now I have Site Demolition, Eco Demolition & Home Demolition. In order of cost Site is the lowest, then Home Demolitions followed by Eco Demolition. The quotes that I have, have a variance of $5k (including independent clearance certificate). I found the quoting process of Eco the most friendly, it just so happened that I was at the property for pre-settlement inspection when Michael from Eco Demo was there. We landed up talking for nearly 30 mins after the inspection. Michael took me through how would they carry out the demolition (and all companies follow the same process). He also said that Site, Eco and Home would be the top three (service and cost both) and if you pick either one, you won't go wrong. Please read the inclusions as Site Demo included the temporary fences, toilets, disconnections except gas. Also, there is a lead period for about 4-5 weeks for demolition approval and gas disconnection so keep that in the planning process. The timing of the demolition itself should be done within a week (based on my conversation with Michael). Lastly Michael himself is going through landscaping his property so got some good tips to consider when we go to for our landscaping appointment Re: Sydney Demolition Companies - Any Recommendations? 11Jan 22, 2019 10:08 pm Hi aadnil, I have my demolition booked for 1st Feb and we going with Site Demolition. Happy to share the feedback but just need to know which part of the process are you in. Experience so far with Site Demolition has been very good. Cheers, Vivek Re: Sydney Demolition Companies - Any Recommendations? 12Jan 23, 2019 7:18 am Vivek28 Hi aadnil, I have my demolition booked for 1st Feb and we going with Site Demolition. I am getting quotes at the moment, and as jimb00 had mentioned, site demolition was 10k more expensive... which I am finding hard to digest. Did you have the same experience, and were you able to successfully negotiate the final cost? Did you have the same experience, and were you able to successfully negotiate the final cost? One of my messages, in the same thread, I have written my experience with all three demo companies - Site, Home and Eco, along with things to consider from planning and additional things you will have to do. Site demos were the cheapest for me by $5k and I wasn't able to negotiate a price - basically had to stick to their quote. If you are able to nego then brilliant - good luck! Just remember please that cheapest is always not the best; if they cut corners and builders site manager inspects the site which requires any further extra work then they would land up being more expensive than the demolition company. Few other points: - Get the scope of work validated by the builder to ensure you will meet builders requirements. - Tree lopping, if you have trees that needs removals or protection then get a quote for that as well. - Gas abolishment is your responsibility and that takes up to 25 working days and will cost you around $1200-$1500. Plan that accordingly. Electricity and water disconnection will be included in demos quote. - Demo certification, costed a couple hundred less than in the Site Demos quote which is a out a 6 week process Hope it helps and good luck! Re: Sydney Demolition Companies - Any Recommendations? 14Jan 23, 2019 8:21 am Thanks vivek28. When you say demo certification, are you referring to the clearance certificate? If so, I didn't realise it took so long! Goodluck for next week - very exciting! Please post your experience when it is all complete, would love to hear it. Re: Sydney Demolition Companies - Any Recommendations? 15Jan 23, 2019 9:38 am It is actually CDC - Compliance Development Certificate for demolition. Site Demo used "Greenfield Certifers". I would suggest as soon as you have locked down your demolition company, apply for your certificate. Site Demo helped me to navigate through all that - sent to form to me, reviewed & corrected the form etc. My bad actually, just checked again and the certificate requires minimum 14 days and for us it took in total 4 weeks. Will share the experience, we also have a "demolition sale" this weekend - a bit like the Pawn Show Re: Sydney Demolition Companies - Any Recommendations? 18Jan 30, 2019 8:50 am aadnil We sold a lot of stuff before we demolished - I thought it would be too much hassle, but my wife was keen, and we ended up making quite a few thousand dollars. Sold many windows, doors, sliding door unit, solar panels, pool pump, shower screens, water heater, gas heating, even plants and trees from the garden. Some of it was really old and decrepit but people still bought it, someone even bought the whole crappy old kitchen and spent the day removing it. Basically just took photos of the main items and listed on gumtree + ebay, and said bring your own tools to remove. Once people were on site they made offers for other things, a bit like that show American Pickers! This went on for about a month I wasn't onsite but a lot of the time just said go in and help yourself Re: Sydney Demolition Companies - Any Recommendations? 19Jan 30, 2019 9:04 am brokenstick aadnil We sold a lot of stuff before we demolished - I thought it would be too much hassle, but my wife was keen, and we ended up making quite a few thousand dollars.
