Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation 1 Aug 25, 2018 9:15 pm Hi Guys, I am looking for advise here. I have a Mitsubishi ducted heating and cooling units. One in the roof upstairs and one in the suspended ceiling downstairs. When the units are on the upstairs floor is vibrating. I have rang the installer but he has no idea what causes this vibration, he suspects it may be a faulty fan but not sure. Does anyone have any suggestions or recommendations what to do next? Cheers, Gadi Re: Vibrating floor when AC is on 4Aug 26, 2018 1:16 pm That's up to you. They could certainly look at it for you but won't be covering installation defects which could be found to be the cause of your vibration. You can't get the original installer out to look at it? How old is the system? Re: Vibrating floor when AC is on 6Aug 26, 2018 9:19 pm I'd be getting the original installer out to look at it. It could be something as simple as the indoor unit wasn't installed with spring mounts to dampen/eliminate the vibration when the unit is running. If you getting no where with the installer, go through your builder and put it down as a defect. Re: Vibrating floor when AC is on 7Oct 22, 2018 6:23 pm Hi, I have this problem with my rental property, while my place gets built. Apparently some contracts offer as an extra option what previous poster has mentioned. We had the leasing agent out who confirmed the problem was not our imagination, and they took it up with the contractor who advised the owner decided on the cheaper option. So in our case its not classed as a defect, luckily we are just renting. Re: Vibrating floor when AC is on 8Jan 04, 2019 8:32 am I had this with my house initially too. What they had done is suspended the indoor unit using hoop strap off the trusses, which was their standard way of doing it. It got so bad that the fan inside the indoor unit got damaged within the first 2 months from the vibrations. In the end the builder had to organise for the fan to be replaced and to get someone else in to be suspend it on threaded rod with dampers. The reason they had to get someone else in was because the orginal installer swore black and blue that it was all ok and normal for a double story house and their arguing and repeat visits is why it took so long to fix. Luckily for me the builder was 'on my side' with this one. The guy who came to fix it shook his head with what he saw. He also found they had supported the pipes to the outdoor unit using duct tape, which had failed, fell down and was partially blocking one of my downstairs outlets. His opinion was the orginal installer came to Canberra from Sydney and the installers just rushed jobs to get back home. Re: Vibrating floor when AC is on 9Feb 02, 2019 7:16 pm Contact with electrician and also contact with your builder for checking. They will definitely solve your issues.
