The bigger bed at the back, I wanted to plant pretty things and the skinny one along the side will be for veg and herbs. Re: Sekisui | Burbank - Cedarwood1828 809Oct 29, 2018 7:00 am Hey everyone! Just got back from 6 weeks of overseas work/holiday ... straight back into landscaping Need some help! I accidentally turned this sewer manhole into a feature!! Wanted to plant 2 magnolia little gems on the top 2 boxes but there is a storm water pipe running straight through the middle of the centre box. Any ideas on plants hedges shrubs to make this area look pretty and sort of cover the manhole a bit better? Maybe a magnolia like you planned in the furthest, then smaller shrubs with wide overhangs in the other two. One with wide enough spread that one on each side will cover the man hole? Not really sure... I guess you could plant something in either corner behind it? And plants along the front which grow tall enough so you cant see it. Then paint the lid black.. cover it with mulch. End of the day though, if they need to do maintenance on it all the plants in that bed will be removed so they get full access. The capping looks really good. You might also need to consider plastic lining (if you haven't already) the fence of the garden bed, otherwise it will rot the fence out pretty quickly. Yeah ok... getting some pictures in my head now I guess if i sort of had highest plants acting like a hedge along the front and neighbours side, maintenance can access the manhole from the driveway. Thanks for the ideas. Damn I really wish Burbank didn’t rip me off with the landscape plan, or at least I should of asked Sekisui to quickly do t before they handed over to Burbank. Oh and yes, I’ve lined the fence with a external fibre cement type board, like blue board. Lucky one of my neighbours is a plasterer so I got heaps of off cuts for free. Re: Sekisui | Burbank - Cedarwood1828 813Oct 29, 2018 4:24 pm kks Remember, those boring, obtrusive concrete slab edges on our homes are our number one termite guard. Not sure I understand actually lol - so what should I do? Do you mean I should keep landscape levels low enough to expose the slab edge? Re: Sekisui | Burbank - Cedarwood1828 815Oct 30, 2018 9:36 pm Small shrubs around manhole and one large lightweight pot plant on top of manhole. I still vote cover it in wood chip or pebble mulch Both good ideas and I don’t know which way I’ll go but what I do know is I’ve been wanting to go to downes wholesale nursery for ages soon... Re: Sekisui | Burbank - Cedarwood1828 819Dec 09, 2018 7:02 am Finally got the grass down yesterday!! Hot weekend...just hope it survives until the rain forecasted next week.
