Check your cornices for cracks and your doors for even margins, especially double doors can tell a tale. I think it’s thermal shock Re: Hairline Cracks and Sound from walls 17Aug 14, 2018 9:13 am Mauromario Hi. Dataone111 Never belive what the builder tells you as I have learned over the years fighting the builder everything they tell you within standards, get your own civil and structual engineer they will tell you if you needed drainage system put in place during the build and after hand over you have 10 years warranty by law in Australia, I've just finished at Vcat I have learned so much in 3.5 years. Have your floor levels checked and see if you have slab movement arm yourself with information from people on this forum, just wondering are you in Victoria if yes I can give you names of great engineers that are not scared to take on builders. Keep me posted. Regards I am in Sydney and wondering which ones will be good for it I am doing some research on google now Thanks Re: Hairline Cracks and Sound from walls 18Aug 14, 2018 10:17 am In my experience thermal expansion is uncommon to cause noise in ordinary timber framed BV dwelling with roof tiles Foremost Building Expert in Australia, assisting with building problems/disputes, building stage inspections,pre-contract review advice for peace of mind 200 blogs http://www.buildingexpert.net.au/blog Re: Hairline Cracks and Sound from walls 19Aug 14, 2018 10:34 am I think it’s time to bring in structural engineer and I have talked to couple of structural engineers but most are vary to take on to builder if that happens if they don’t agree to the issue I am yet to find a good one here in Sydney yet.
