I went any time I wanted when the site manager would question me I'd say its my land and I can enter any time I want even after they tell me health and safety I'd say ill be carefully. Look the reason iam saying this I took photos from empty block of land to finished build and right through to last week I have over 3000 photos, I researched everything and with the help of Geo1 and StructuralBIMGuy with the information they gave me it was an eye opener i took that information and all the photos I had the builder had no answer so vcat went in our favor. The member of vcat said he had never seen so many photos and detail in our folders the builder had only 2 reports that really did nothing for their case. So the member told the builder you have no chance deal with it now. To everyone who is in the middle of building take as many photos as you can before and afterwards it will help your case in the long run. Good luck to everyone. Re: Hairline Cracks and Sound from walls 10Aug 13, 2018 2:33 pm Hi, Thanks for your help. I brought this house from its first owner, so i didn't have any photos during the construction. I have done building inspection when i brought this property but not a structural inspection. I have waterered the house yesterday and the noice is reduced a lot. I am planning to bring a structurl engineer or buildfix.com to check on this. Meanwhile the builder is saying that any crack upto 1mm in Year 1 and 2 mm in Year 2 is under the allowed limit. I think it's going to be more than 2 mm soon in that case they will be forced to do the repair but my problem is it safe to wait or not I am confused in this matter and i live in Sydney. Thanks .. Re: Hairline Cracks and Sound from walls 11Aug 13, 2018 2:44 pm Hi. Dataone111 Never belive what the builder tells you as I have learned over the years fighting the builder everything they tell you within standards, get your own civil and structual engineer they will tell you if you needed drainage system put in place during the build and after hand over you have 10 years warranty by law in Australia, I've just finished at Vcat I have learned so much in 3.5 years. Have your floor levels checked and see if you have slab movement arm yourself with information from people on this forum, just wondering are you in Victoria if yes I can give you names of great engineers that are not scared to take on builders. Keep me posted. Regards Re: Hairline Cracks and Sound from walls 12Aug 13, 2018 8:21 pm If you can hear cracking in your house then it can be thermal shock and or more likely foundation movement. Check your cornices for cracks and your doors for even margins, especially double doors can tell a tale.
