With hardwood, it’s important to use glue and secret nail. Re: Squeaking Floor - subfloor issues? 6Jul 30, 2018 9:47 pm arcadelt I'm sorry to say, but unless the boards are fixed to a slab or timber sheeting, wooden floors will make sounds, especially if they have been tightly fitted against one another. Furthermore, as timber is a natural material, it’s dimensions will change over time, and in varying temperature and humidity conditions, so even if it is fixed now, it is likely it will happen again in the future. Thanks for the reply. The boards are attached to timber sheeting (plywood or yellow tongue). Sorry, when I said “the floor is solid” I meant the floor is strong. The noises are not coming from the boards, but from the floor joists, or beam, or something in that area. Would also like an opinion from anyone that has used xcem over hebel for floors. Thanks 1 14248 Jimbo73 I would use heaps of adhesive on each sheet and screw rather than nail. use as many as you like cheers Simeon 1 4074 XCEM Alpha flooring seems to relatively new and I could not found any reviews. Have you or someone you know have used it and would recommend over other subfloor options?… 2 7597 |
