Just hoping we can get them to pay half.... Re: Our First Home - Ballarat - Final Stages Flooring & Fi 425Jul 30, 2018 9:48 am icat2000 Because that blocks either side of us haven't sold yet. I think there maybe offers on them but they not sold we had to make a decision re fencing. There was a half share in our build contract, but we have bitten the bullet and decided to pay for the whole lot. Who knows when the blocks will sell or even when they start building. And I really do not want my backyard unsecured. So there goes a few more $$$$ There is now mothballs in my wallet haha. Both of our side neighbours have only just started building, so I sent the quote to both of them and asked for half of their side. They have both agreed. The block at the back isn't even on the market yet, so won't be getting anything from that side. The block on one side is doing a zero lot boundary which will now form part of the fence. Re: Our First Home - Ballarat - Final Stages Flooring & Fi 426Jul 30, 2018 10:13 am Trippypossum We have the same problem. Only one of our 4 connecting properties have sold. As we have a dog we will require the fence to be up when we move in. The sale of properties in our estate appears to be at a standstill currently. What colour fence are you going with ? Colourbond Monument as we have estate rules. I guess its one of those things you win some you lose some. However, I want my house protected when they start to build (don't want my house to get splashed with anything and if they ruin the fence well then they can pay for it. Fencing is the responsibility of the landowner i.e us. Re: Our First Home - Ballarat - Final Stages Flooring & Fi 431Aug 01, 2018 8:07 pm Popped by house tonight. It looks interesting. Re: Our First Home - Ballarat - Love my Garage Door 438Aug 02, 2018 2:37 pm Well, working to needs versus wants is a sensible thing. I'm building my last home at the moment and I could still produce a long list of things I really would have wanted if I had not cared about being sensible with the money. But at least this time around I have covered the fundamental bases, unlike the previous time where I had no experience at all and didn't include even the most basic "upgrades". But there are advantages of standard height ceilings. Maybe I'm wrong here but with a lower ceiling you have less room volume for the same floor space, so cooling and heating costs should be less all other things being equal. And it will be easier to change light bulbs, clean ceiling fans and clean out your airconditioning filters! Re: Our First Home - Ballarat - Love my Garage Door 439Aug 09, 2018 7:06 pm Popped by house today as we have PCI tommorrow. They have commenced the tiles outside. Just need to grout them. Also started finishing off the island bench. Wasn't too sure how the three colour scheme would go in the kitchen but think it looks okay. Definitely later than expected, but I'll take any progress at this point.
