So much to browse and so many selections to make. Slowly getting an understanding of the choices. Only downside is that whatever is included you won’t like & whatever you like is an upgrade which comes at a price ☹️ So really need to figure out what upgrades are the must haves and what upgrades to keep in the wish list. Will not have all the prices till tender so can only decide what upgrades we can afford & which ones will have to do without. Exciting & frightening at the same time. Knocking down & rebuilding our dream home. We have been searching for the perfect house plan for almost two years. Walked through the doors of the Montpelier 51 by Carlisle & fell in love with it. Found that there are very few threads for Carlisle. So starting this one in the hopes of sharing our journey & maybe it will be helpful to others building with Carlisle. 2nd June 2018 paid the initial $1000 deposit 16th June 2018 paid the second $1000 and signed the sales paperwork. 28th June 2018 had pre site start chat with CLE (Client Liaison Executive) 5th July 2028 sent application for power pit And engaged Demolisher 7th July 2018 Colour Browse appointment at Spectra- Carlisle Design Studio in Mulgrave. 19th July 2018 Got estimate of underground power pit - $4504.50 24th July 2018 Power Pit payment sent 8th August 2018 Colour Selection appointment 22nd August 2018 Tender appointment Changes to Floor Plan: Guest bedroom in lieu of study Shower to powder room downstairs Niches in all showers Window splash back to butler's pantry Downstairs Walk In Linen - closed door from laundry and made opening from butler's pantry. Will use this space as extra storage for kitchen and place extra freezer in there. Added a window to this small room for some natural light. Sliding doors to theatre Door to ensuite bathroom 1m garage extension with roller door at the back Zoned heating and refrigerated cooling Upgraded staircase to timber laminate closed risers The Carlisle Affinity range comes with so many inclusions that we did not need many upgrades. Haven't taken flooring from them. Hoping to get some suggestions for floor tiles, laminate and carpets from this forum. And also for blinds. At this stage everything seems overwhelming. Have to think of so many things like moving, demolition, power pit, abolishment of services.... the list goes on. Being methodical and organised will be the way forward. Sharing the journey here will help relieve some of the stress. Wish us luck!!!! Hi HoneyDee congrats on the new journey ! I am sure you would be enjoying every cent of it. I am also looking at the Montpellier plan but a smaller version than yours i.e. 45 with almost same upgrades as yours. Still working on the options. May I know how much was your total quote including the upgrades. Also how did you go with your site cost. At some stage would be great to see your plans. I will sure follow your journey Cheers ! Hi Ozshaz The Montpellier is indeed an attractive floor plan. We still haven’t got our site costs. We were told that we get an approximate estimate at tender if they have it or not until contract 🙄 Our specific plans will be available at Tender which is on 22/08z Will share them after I get them. Will PM you our quote. All the best for your search of the perfect house plan that suits you. It took us almost 2 years to hover down to the MP 51. And still second guessing 😀 Hi HoneyDee, thank you very much for the reply and all the best with the plan. Eagerly waiting to see the plans. And l fully agree with your comments on the other post that the things which are included are not that inline to what we need and the ones we want is always expensive !! First thing on my list was the staircase and seems like it would be very expensive option. Also planning to go tiles for every where so that would also be a challenge. My land would be titled early next year so trying to get all the things in line before that but we never know what would come next !! Cheers ! Re: KDR in Melbourne SE suburbs- Carlisle - Montpellier 51 34Jul 24, 2018 8:33 am Hi Ozshaz The staircase with glass balustrade & the wooden one are so expensive - around $24-26k We went for the KDH one- around $6.5k. I hate carpet on the staircase. Difficult to clean. We too planning on tiles downstairs. But thinking of getting it done after handover. All the best with your planning. Have you decided on the MP or still looking at other floor plans? Have you decided on the MP or still looking at other floor plans? Find out how the tiles interact with the skirting board. Maybe worthwhile getting 90mm skirtboards or even higher. Have you decided on the MP or still looking at other floor plans? Hi HoneyDee, Thanks for the PM I have gone through few floor plans and seems like MP ticks majority of the boxes. I was after a plan which has sitting, Guest bedroom and Home theatre at ground floor which MP has but seems like I would be stretching a bit with budget on MP If that happens then I may need to see how to get the cost down like doing some stuff after handover or look at a different floor plan. Have you decided on the MP or still looking at other floor plans? Hi HoneyDee, just a quick question for you if you dont mind please. Do you know what type of timber Carlisle are using for the construction ? They may have mentioned it in your quote like is it F5 90mm timber or MGP10. Also do you know what brand they use for windows - Bradnams or A&L ?Thanks ! Re: KDR in Melbourne SE suburbs- Carlisle - Montpellier 51 38Jul 27, 2018 7:48 am Hi Ozshaz, It says 90mm Pine frames. Don’t know about the windows. Will find out when we visit Spectra next. How are you going with your search for house plans? MGP 10 pine? Re: KDR in Melbourne SE suburbs- Carlisle - Montpellier 51 40Jul 27, 2018 12:18 pm HoneyDee Hi Ozshaz, It says 90mm Pine frames. Don’t know about the windows. Will find out when we visit Spectra next. How are you going with your search for house plans? Thanks HoneyDee. Search is going full on I have looked into few different floor plans from other builders as well but MP is still the front runner. The good thing by talking to various builders is that they will tell the "look-out" things about their competitors. Like one of them told to look after the Pine frames from Carlisle as they use the F5 frame which is no comparable to MGP10 which majority of other builders use. Also to look after other quality inclusions like windows as they don't tell us which brand they are, sometimes plumbing may be issue etc. But that's whats the sales process is Many things to learn on the journey !! No one is perfect and we need to decide what matters us May be some of the above points would be helful for you to discuss during selections We were lucky in that our old house was so small (86 square metres) compared to the new house, they were able to take enough readings around the old backyard house before… 8 36911 Thanks for your reply! We're definitely not after a small house Might still have a chat to them. Who did you end up building with if you don't mind me asking? 2 2571 The biggest challenge will be if you take out a loan and then run out of money - you'll have an incomplete security and lenders do not like this so you can get stuck.… 2 18895 |
