Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 11521Jul 11, 2018 7:16 am We didn’t have many questions but we did take a while to really make sure we documented where all the wires etc are in the walls and that everything was in the right place for electrical. Main things we picked up were - power points not at the right height to hide in our bathroom vanities - some wall blocking not installed for TV mounting/heavy mirrors - ceiling blocking not installed for large pendants (we added these at electrical) Another thing to check is the framing where all the ducting for AC has been put in. These aren’t on the construction plans although we got an email showing us where they had put all the ducts after rough in. We had an issue with one - we expected it to be built out flush with the nib wall so it wasn’t obvious, but instead it was stepped back which we weren’t happy with. Building Wisdom Aspiration 31 at Willowdale https://ourwillowdalehome.wordpress.com/ Hi Jenifermarie, Thank you so much for taking the hassle to write so long for me! I was going through your wordpress blog last night which also helped me a lot. We took day off today for an activity of our daughter. When we got call from our SS yesterday about huge progress in this week and the gyprock came forward for this Friday, he asked for the prelining meeting for Thursday. For our day off we requested to make it today instead and he managed it. He has so far been great. All my disappointment is I did not realize the rough ins meant electrical wiring and that would happen so quick, before the prelining meeting. We actually forgot about a provision for ceiling fan in downstairs bedroom (2.74m height downstairs). I wanted to request for a spare wiring for future work since there is no light in the center of ceiling, so no wiring can be used. I called SS this morning about this and our nice SS is trying his best to arrange requirements/ options for me before Friday's gyprock Looking forward to see our SS for the first time today. I will try to check the power points, pendant supports, etc. but not sure how much I can do. My husband must be supervising my 4y old. Whatever it is, I am EXCITED!! Will walk inside the house for the first time!! Will be back with updates. Building Wisdom Aspiration 31 at Willowdale https://ourwillowdalehome.wordpress.com/ Hi Jenifermarie, You're lucky you picked up on the wall/ceiling mounting prior to gyprock! We added in additional support for our dining room pendant and TV as well - but the gyprock went in super quick and no one can confirm for us if the mounting was done! Let's hope the TV doesn't fall off the wall when we wall mount it! I signed off on the Quote, but planning to delete the $2,900 for removal of fill. TIA! Our experience we had a PA provided during selection appointments however never added to EP. During construction you meet the landscaping team onsite and walkthrough exactly what you need and a quote is provided. You can then add/delete items. Once signed off the cost is then added to contract and that amount is payable when you receive keys. A quote is provided when you meet the landscaping team onsite during construction. The PA is provided if you need the amount included if borrowing funds. If this is the case for you I would leave it as is until you have onsite meeting for quote. May give a buffer for items you never considered in PA. We are just post-contract so still selecting things but should we have provisioned for supports by now? We discussed supports for the chandelier during the electrical consult. On a similar vein, we are having tiles to our media alcove where the TV and fireplace will be (not cantilever but inbuilt), is there anything I need to know about mounting a TV to tiles? I signed off on the Quote, but planning to delete the $2,900 for removal of fill. TIA! On our meeting we asked for few different quotes on exactly what items we want now to be done by Wisdom. E.g. one quote with brick piering fencing, another quote with timber slipper fencing. He sent us all fresh quotes after assessing the current status of the site. Luckily it came down from initial for us. We signed on it last night as it needs to be signed off before gyprock. Just use a drill bit that is meant for tiles, that's all really and make sure you drill into wood frame out the back. Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 11535Jul 11, 2018 7:47 pm Had our pre-lining meeting in 18 week today. Met our Site Supervisor. Such a wonderful person! Couldn't find much fault. SS has put timber support in most of the room ceiling (upstairs and downstairs) for my possible ceiling fan option. He is arranging re-direction of wiring for future ceiling fan. Timber support all ok for TV wall mount in all possible locations (Home theater, living downstairs, upstairs leisure). Also in entry for large wall mirror. Only 2 things I picked up or requested: - Dining pendant point closer to wall (currently in the centre of room) - Master suite media alcove power point need to be raised in bench height (I asked in electrical appoitmemt) since I will have custom wall mount joinery and mirror on that wall (a dressing table kind of). Forecast: 19 week: Gyprock complete 20 week: Stairs complete 22 week: kitchen complete 30 week: Handover Finger crossed Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Building Ambassador 41 Wisdom Homes Slab done 19 March 2018 Frame done 20 April 2018 Bricks done 31 May 2018 Building Ambassador 41 Wisdom Homes Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 11536Jul 11, 2018 8:01 pm singalg Kazi After Week 17: Scaffold removed and rebuilt Lower roof done Rough ins all to be in week 18 Insulation to be in week 19 Pre linings meeting to be early week 19 Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Building Ambassador 41 Wisdom Homes Slab done 19 March 2018 Frame done 20 April 2018 Bricks done 31 May 2018 Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Great progress Kazi.
