Browse Forums Windows & Doors Re: New windows with marks and scratches. Standards? 7Jul 03, 2018 11:14 am Lorri Well we had our visit from the builders and the window company, the builders guy as soon as he walked in the door was talking about standards and tolerances without even looking at the windows, the window guy who is the owner of the company started looking at the windows and was talking about refraction? Then he tried cleaning it with metho and water mix which didn't do a thing, we knew that since we tried it earlier. Then he got a tub of gumption out and tried it on a bit and it worked! it removed the lines , so he said it was some organic matter, but it would be strange to say nearly every window in the house had it on. But end result was the most of the windows will clean up ok, the sliding door he is going to spin the glass around so the mark between the panes of glass is at the bottom, and replacing two window that had scratches on them. Wilsons said the windows are fine , they are within the standards. He wasn't impressed when told the standards are not written to protect the customer, he wouldn't answer when asked would you be happy with these in your house since they meet the standard. So happy to have got this sorted ok. Thanks to the window guys. Not come off with window cleaner, method and water mix, plain metho, shower cleaner etc, razor blade etc. They looked like they where inside the glass, no cleaner was making any difference at all. The window company owner tried with those above too and then tried the gumption cleaner which worked to remove the lines. He also thought that they where on the inside glass. He said it looks like organic cause, after they left the factory, I don't know what he was on about as they were uniform lines, not random and on nearly every window in the house i can't see how that could happen. But happy to have a good result. Cheers Re: New windows with marks and scratches. Standards? 9Jul 09, 2018 6:51 pm Hi! Does Anyone know if the seals of the bottom of the windows are supposed to just hang down? My windows are on over rendered blue board and it’s not recessed in so these flaps are just hanging. It looks crap, we have white windows with a light grey render and now these black flaps just hanging looking crap and some are bent and all so from afar it doesn’t look straight. Building Standards; Getting It Right! Don't think they are designed for double brick. WA has a particular way of building and unfortunately that's the way a large amount of sills are finished. 3 7004 I believe this is correct. From the picture you can see the power was put in last so the electrician knew where the water was. Really it's a common sense issue more… 4 5152 2 8644 |
