What sort of figures should I expect to pay for their services? If anyone has recommended inspectors in northern Sydney, please PM me with details. Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 11357Jun 29, 2018 1:34 pm becks81 MandM+4 psur2357 Hi congrats those very close to getting the house key !!! I am getting very close as well, PCI 9th of July. Just a question whether you guys have an independent inspector for the final inspection stage?? is it worth it? I have seen reports of those inspectors and mostly only point out cosmetic items.. really dont wanna spend another $700 for an inspector if I can avoid it. I would advise you to. We didn’t and there have been a few things pop up post handover that we didn’t pick up on,that I think an inspector would have. Best to have as many things rectified as possible before handover. I’m sorry you had some issues after handover! Do you mind if I ask what kinds of problems occurred? Just so I can be a little more informed going in? I think there are always going to be some issues after handover, and we haven’t been through maintenance yet so I’m hopeful we will be 100% happy with the house after that. The biggest issues (IMO) are that our stacker doors are so out of line we haven’t been able to get screen doors installed, when slid across they fall out, and that water doesn’t drain towards the drain on our balcony. Lots of other little things that will be easily rectified at maintenance. I have seen reports of those inspectors and mostly only point out cosmetic items.. really dont wanna spend another $700 for an inspector if I can avoid it. It really depends on the build.. We got an inspector and few things were picked up that was non-compliant. eg; Balcony weep holes were covered or not cut enough by tilers. Door frame were crooked. Sliding door frame was bent and therefore could not close properly. Places where tiler should have tiled but just left a gap. It's probably better for piece of mind since I'm paying this much money for the house. Costs $455 for inspection and report. Wish I got one at the start. Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 11360Jun 29, 2018 4:38 pm Jenifermarie Been awhile since I posted our progress. We’re in week 13 now and our roof and render were done this week. Eaves are due to go on this week and our cladding is on site too. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ We also had a call from a consultant at Canvas Quarter this week because the wall lights we had planned in our main bathroom don’t meet code (these were the consultant’s suggestion when we did electrical because we couldn’t have pendant lights in the bathroom). Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Wisdom’s only options were either move them around the corner or delete them when they spoke to my husband. I had a look over our plans that night and Wisdom agreed the next day to us shuffling our lights around the different bathrooms so now we have downlights in the main bathroom and the wall lights will go over our ensuite vanity so we can install these lights after handover.
