If you’re lucky they will leave it for a week or two, but I’ve heard of builds where they start the frame almost straight away Re: Porter Davis homes 17043Jun 12, 2018 3:38 pm inphaze Ashik_09 Any idea how long porter davis lets the concrete cure once the slab pour is complete? Our slab pour is scheduled next week !!! May be they are just waiting for us to finish and do framing for the 3 houses in the street at the same time Re: Porter Davis homes 17044Jun 12, 2018 3:44 pm Ashik_09 inphaze Ashik_09 Any idea how long porter davis lets the concrete cure once the slab pour is complete? Each SS has their own preferred framer/carpenter Each SS has their own way to build a house, some wait, some just rush on and complete your framing ASAP. I’m pretty certain they get paid bonuses if they complete each stage by a certain date Re: Porter Davis homes 17045Jun 12, 2018 3:46 pm inphaze Ashik_09 Ouch, both my neighbours are building with porter davis and its been at least a month since they did the slab pour but are yet to start the framing.. Re: Porter Davis homes 17046Jun 12, 2018 3:55 pm We had an Arden home built across the road from us and they started framing the next day. Apparently its also good if it gets a lot of rain just after the slab is poured as well. Apparently its also good if it gets a lot of rain just after the slab is poured as well. I have been told, the slab is supposed to cure for a month, needs to be watered daily. Lets see how it goes! I got metricon and carlisle on the same street and they are just flying Re: Porter Davis homes 17049Jun 14, 2018 8:50 pm So, an interesting development on my build. We are currently up to day 107, and my S/S tells me that we should have completed fixing stage in the next couple of weeks. Can't complain at all there. The interesting element of it is that due to delays with Hebel installers and stuff ups with a part of the slab and lack of coordination with the bricklayer for the featured piers which can't be done until the pier footing is poured, it is likely that the fixing stage will be finished before the lock up stage. So, does anyone know if PD can issue the fixing invoice before the lockup invoice or do they have to catch everything up first before they can invoice for the two stages? Anyone whose house is complete - how long does it typically take from fixing to pci and then handover? I think I saw someone say 3-4 months? Seems like ages given what is left to do. Re: Porter Davis homes 17050Jun 16, 2018 8:52 am Hi Mike, check the contract. By memory, the wording fixing, lockup etc ... Includes a percentage of the build to be completed (65% and 85%), which means they can't / shouldn't (?) issue one before the other if the build hasn't hit that percentage complete. Our slab was left for 1 week before framing commenced. Ours was left for a month from memory but that was just because tradies weren't available at the time. We were happy about it though as we wanted to give it extra time to cure. Re: Porter Davis homes 17052Jun 19, 2018 8:18 pm We just got our frame invoice. Slab was poured 29/05 !! Slab was poured 29/05 !! Yeah, they love to race through the first couple of invoices. Re: Porter Davis homes 17054Jun 20, 2018 2:11 pm We just received our partial lockup invoice today. Hebel is starting on the house this week after nearly 2 weeks of not much happening, due to a shortage of hebel installers up our way. It's been exactly 11 weeks since our block was cut, so pretty happy with how things are progressing. Yep, they don't stuff around on sending invoices. I had a call from our SS to apologise for accidentally hitting the finished stage a few days earlier as well. Re: Porter Davis homes 17056Jun 20, 2018 5:47 pm So we finally got to see what our recessed ceiling in the living area looks like today - had a meeting with our SS this morning, but I would have popped over today anyways. There was literally 6 plasterers on site! And in some good news he told us that he has booked the painter that does the display homes....so lets just say I will have a high expectation of our paint work! Told me to book in Darbecca for next Thursday for our pre-paint inspection. Question - we have about $1000 worth of bricks left over. PD are happy to take them away for us, or we can keep them. We have absolutely no need for them but we have paid for them. Has anyone kept leftover bricks? I am wondering if I could sell them - make an easy $500 or so. Our recessed ceiling - 3.3 metres (rest of the house is 2.74m) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Porter Davis homes 17057Jun 20, 2018 6:20 pm goldencrumble So we finally got to see what our recessed ceiling in the living area looks like today - had a meeting with our SS this morning, but I would have popped over today anyways. Could you use the bricks for retaining wall or garden edging when you landscape? Still to be fixed our entry wall that is over 10mm out of plum and a continuing stinking toilet in our powder room. Complained about our paint as after 3 months will have to repaint due to not being able to clean up Marks on the paint. PD inspector said what did we expect as PD are a volume builder and they use cheap paint. If we wanted paint we could wash we should have upgraded!!!!! Some other items below. The garage has now been ground and sealed, concrete is in for the spa and I have made a fixture to weld myself a blade fence. Still fighting with the council to get my driveway bond back. The concreters did an excellent job on the driveway.
