Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 10, 2018 7:09 pm Hi, Our block has an overall slope of 4m and 2.2m over the build area. We have been advised by 2 builders that we need bearer and joist which is going to be very expensive, they are independent builders and say this is the only option. However there are a few project builders who advised there are no issues with still doing a slab still. I am really confused as to the difference as we are talking huge amounts of money. Would love to hear any experience you have had with sloping blocks and thoughts? It slopes from front to back Thanks Re: Steep/Sloping block - advice 2Jun 10, 2018 7:21 pm Do you have a contour survey & a rough sketch of the house layout? Re: Steep/Sloping block - advice 5Jun 10, 2018 7:44 pm Thanks for the sketch, if the builders owns copyright..then you will need to start again with the sketch That's why it's advisable to do your own sketch..own copyright.. & Get 3 builders to quote. Your options are , Split slab with retaining ie 2 or 3 Levels, Brick Piers with timber floor & Retaining walls around the external perimeter & Fill, or a combination. The first would be my preference hth Designer,Engineer (Civil,Const & Envir),Builder,Concrete & Masonry Contract.Struct Repairs Give Jonathan a call. Tell him you know me.
