Will ask about the insulation tho? In Ballarat, with a coldish winter, it would be unwise not to use an anticon blanket under a metal roof. Adds another R or so to the overall insulation of the roof, too. Believe me, we asked! We got 2 whirlybirds included with the upgrade to Colorbond. One on the house, one on the garage Our Bayside KDR Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=78298 Re: Building with Metricon 7320Jun 09, 2018 11:32 pm JoseCruz Drew01 MinandB
Okay, I just received a call from Metricon with the free upgrade roof tiles are not available and they are offering the colourbond roof as the tiles have a 3/4 week lead in. is it true that changing to colourbond roofing is a upgrade? 2 what will last me longer? the colourbond roof or the tiles? thanks! I’m not sure on the upgrade but I would ask for an anticon blanket to be included if you go with the colourbond for noise reduction. Metricon told us they won't install anticon under Colorbond, only sarking... Hi Drew, Do you have the colourbond roof? wouldn't the colourbond roof be colder in winter hotter in summer?
No, the temperature isn't of significance. That's why you have a whirlybird and ceiling insulation. Compared to cement tiles, Colorbond will outlast the owners of pretty much every house it's installed on, whereas cement tiles have a finite life before they start absorbing moisture and either collapse the roof, start to disintegrate or both (ask me how I know!)
