Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 11003Jun 05, 2018 8:07 pm CS199 Jaydeeh82 CS199 Is anyone building a Monte Carlo with Wisdom We have a wide block so Monte Carlo will look better sitting on the blocks compared to Manhattan 52 Thinking of extending the home theatre and study downstairs as don't really need a separate bedroom downstairs. Will add a shower to powder room downstairs Will increase the size of dining to bring it in line with the outside walls of the house Also looking at getting a 3rd Garage put in to increase the street profile. Also planning to push the dining room Is Signature package worth paying the extra 50K for or is it better to pick and choose items individually and add to base price. Our budget is 550 - 600K max so were looking at getting the structure right and putting bells and whistles on a bit later as required Any other suggestions or feedback is welcome Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Hi CS199, We're building Monte Carlo 40 so the downstairs design is a bit different to yours. We didn't make any structural changes to ours except for extending the alfresco. The changes you're making look good. I would have loved a 3rd garage but our block is only 470sqm. This house only just fit on our land. I am wondering if your home theatre would end up being too big? Unless you plan on furnishing it accordingly. We kept the guest bedroom downstairs as it's our forever home and it would be handy to have a bedroom down there for the future. Also would be good for resale value. We just stayed on the luxury essentials and upgraded what we wanted. Still, we ended up at around 540k. Most of our upgrades went towards tiling and the kitchen. Looking at your plan, it looks as though the butler's pantry is already fitted out for your design? The 40 just comes with shelving so that cost a lot for us to add shelves, sink, bench top etc. Did you get a copy of the list that shows you how much the upgrades cost as per display house? If you want any more info for pricing etc let me know. Yeah, I will get the HT fitted out to have 2 rows of seats, back ones raised up etc to give it a real theatre feel. Made some more changes the plan and moved garage door entry to Laundry......wondering if I should get an entry to Pantry from Laundry as well so after shopping etc stuff can go straight into pantry rather than going around through the main kitchen. Will get the partitioning wall in the dining/leisure removed to give it a feel of massive open space. Also pushed out Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ laundry and pantry to be in live with the boundary wall of the house I have to agree with the others regarding the laundry - you will loose too much bench/storage space if you add another entry. Also 3 doors is a bit overkill, actually 4 including the door to the outside. If you do want an entry to the butler's, I'd remove the original entry (from the powder room area) so it's closed off on that wall. I do see the benefit of the pantry access from the garage but I don’t food shop as often as I wash clothes lol. Building Monte Carlo 40- Wisdom homes Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 11009Jun 07, 2018 2:53 am Jordann Kazi Looks great Jordan. What is this driveway material called, any chance 'exposed aggregate'? I dont have much knowledge on driveways, but needs to arrange tradies soon for post handover jobs. Any tips for driveways? Yes this is exposed aggregate Holcim mix (i think). We originally wanted Boral salt and pepper mix but didn't want the yellow rocks that it has in there. Our concreter recommended this mix as there is less yellow stones, mainly just black and white with a few coloured stones. Looks fantastic! We also went for exposed ag, but I’ve been on holiday for 2 weeks and haven’t seen it yet. We had to have a 3metre crossover so won’t look as good as yours Building Monte Carlo 40- Wisdom homes Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 11011Jun 07, 2018 3:07 pm CS199 Any idea what the cost of upgrading to 9-foot ceilings is if opting for a Prestige pack Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 11012Jun 07, 2018 3:37 pm For those who have finished their builds or close to it. I'm building a Manhattan 39, once roof is finished, typically how long will it take to finish the house? Also how much time goes into flooring top and bottom as I'm doing this after handover so wanting to know how much time will be saved before pci Roof still in progress but likely will finish sometime next week Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 11013Jun 07, 2018 3:46 pm doosra For those who have finished their builds or close to it. Our internals flew by but the roof/eaves/guttering seemed slow. The flooring took a day for laminate, a day for carpet. Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 11016Jun 07, 2018 11:55 pm Just so we have a rough idea of timelines, it sounds like admin times may be a little better now, but how long has it typically taken for more recent builds from say Production Estimating? I get that the suggestion is 30weeks but what is the reality? At week 35 now and still have 3 more weeks to go before PCI. We have had a few major structural issues that had to be fixed. 30 weeks is optimistic. For larger houses 40-44 squares I would add another 8 weeks. There are short of trades at the moment and some suppliers have delay in the production. Also do you have a photo of the external mount. Thanks Can someone please offer some advice? Im DESPERATE. Because I'm completely and utterly exhausted.
