Browse Forums Building A New House Re: First Build with Summit Perth WA 322May 25, 2018 1:15 pm nicolac34 So good you got the powerdome issue sorted quickly, the house is looking so nice. 4 weeks ahead of schedule is great news, I hope they can get a shift on for us too! Thanks nicolac34. Went out this morning and the power run is now done, driveway is fixed. My electrician can now do the approvals for my solar system. My accounting contact at Summit has requested the final account from scheduling & will invoice this as soon as she gets it. Fingers cross i have my invoice for early next week so i can get the valuation ball rolling Re: First Build with Summit Perth WA 323May 25, 2018 3:33 pm fivespice Hey summitluvin, I'm also building with Summit and wondering if you've had or seen this: In one of the non-master bedrooms linen cupboard there is a little moisture detecting device (forgot the actual name), like a small device that's supposed to detect water and looks kind of like a sensor alarm. Do you have this in any of your rooms? I have a building inspector so I'll be bringing this up but I was curious if it's standard practice. We had our pci yesterday and our SS showed us two alarms for the aircon which go off if they overfill with water. One is in my scullery so maybe that’s the case for yours? Re: First Build with Summit Perth WA 324May 26, 2018 4:06 pm Summitlovin My brother managed to sneak in to the house today which is great as it saves me from travelling too far off the couch haha! He is thoroughly impressed with how the bathrooms look, in his words "it looks schmicko". The power dome situation has been rectified...by who & how i am not sure, i assume WP as the SS confirmed they had notified them. It made me happy to see it was fixed so quick. I assume the power run will now be done early next week. Summit have confirmed that my PCI will be thursday & the house will be ready. That means blinds, flooring, electrical run, garage, fixing the driveway, painting & rangehood installation need to be done in the next 4 working days. Yikes, i do not envy my SS when he gets back to work Monday. I received an email from my sales contact yesterday to congratulate me in proving him wrong. He predicted construction would finish end of June and we are finishing 4 weeks ahead of this. I think at some point in the next 6 months i will also add a sliding door to the theatre room and my WIP. Now that i have a cat i think it would be wise to be able to close off the pantry so he can't cause any mischief! Makes two of us As my power has been sorted the approval process for my solar system has started. I am excited! Feeling a little anxious for my SS though! The front door to my house was wide open today, why, i do not know. But i let myself have a wander to see where things were at. He has 3 days to get flooring, garage, rangehood & now also blinds installed before PCI on Thursday. It's been a frustrating 2 weeks to see these major last things not get done in his absence. I also need to check my addenda as i believe the wrong size handles have been installed on my drawers. I'm also a little frustrated with my broker. I emailed them Thurs night to ask how i would go about organising for a bank cheque for my final payment. I was told i couldn't do this & that it had to be electronic. I called CBA last night who confirmed i could in fact organise a cheque. So i will be organising for this method instead of electronic transfer to help quicken the handover process. Hopefully it will cut a couple of days off the wait for keys Re: First Build with Summit Perth WA 326May 26, 2018 6:02 pm I’ve always been able to do a bank cheque for my previous builds, but given how freaking annoying my broker has been this time around it wouldn’t surprise me if they refused this time All looking really good, it’ll be yours before you know it my new build thread- Ben Trager https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=89826 my switch build thread (2011) https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=36569 Re: First Build with Summit Perth WA 327May 26, 2018 6:34 pm Summitlovin vanessah2015 Summitlovin My brother managed to sneak in to the house today which is great as it saves me from travelling too far off the couch haha! Lucky you went down to visit, would’ve been a bit scary to see it wide open, 🤞🏻 For you that he kinda has that all booked in for those three days before hand, hope they are the right handles would be pretty annoying if they aren’t, Does the cheque speed up the process of hand over? I need to kinda start thinking about that, hoping that your PCI sticks to Thursday! If i have to eliminate the broker from the organisation of the cheque i will and i am going too. You're getting paid from the bank for my deal, i expect you to know what you are talking about & to do everything in your power to help, especially as i've not done this before. I've had friends say how useless brokers have been in helping them recently so it sounds like currently everyone is having a few issues with them. I need to kinda start thinking about that, hoping that your PCI sticks to Thursday! No install date just yet, once the approvals are done they will contact me to organise this but it will be tricky to pick a date at this point. They are also doing my downlights so it will probably be a 2 day job. I am hoping to have them in for the 11th of June at the latest but depending on when i get my invoice and sign it off i am hoping i could book it for 7/8th June Agreed, i locked it after i left as at 10:30 in the morning if someone was going to be working on the house on a saturday, i'm sure they would've been there already. Everything was already booked for this past 2 weeks and somehow everything has not got done. So i'll keep my fingers crossed too that it can be done in 3 days. I believe so. When they do an electronic transfer it usually takes between 2-4 days to clear i believe. If you organise a cheque the bank basically approves payment, organises the cheque, you collect from the branch and get keys same day. Re: First Build with Summit Perth WA 330May 26, 2018 11:18 pm I can see how doors can get left unlocked but wide open, lucky you were up for a visit. Hopefully the fill-in SS has your flooring and blinds booked for early next week, talk about cutting it fine. Hopefully the fill-in SS has your flooring and blinds booked for early next week, talk about cutting it fine. My usual SS already had everything booked in before he went away & it has been smooth sailing until this point, which is why i didn't expect any of these issues to arise. I do hope the relief SS has at least followed up on these things to ensure everything that has been delayed is to happen early this week. At least what is to be done aren't things that rely on someone else to finish something first. I can see myself going out everyday this week to check on progress haha! Maybe the fill-in SS decided to delay the F&B installs until the power run was sorted knowing that the paving was going to be lifted. If he did that i would be more than a little confused. The driveway paving/power issue wouldn't effect the flooring, blinds or garage i wouldn't have thought. Doesn't matter now, can't change any of it. Fingers crossed for a smooth couple of days and the PCI thursday Re: First Build with Summit Perth WA 334May 28, 2018 7:35 pm Today was progress day & now i can say I AM EXCITED! Garage in, rangehood installation nearly finished & blinds in. Just waiting on flooring, painting and rangehood to be completed. I'm trying to work out if the garage door is dented or if it is lighting/dirt so will need to have a good look at that over the next couple of days. Happy lady tonight! The flooring only arrived today at the warehouse and will be laid tomorrow...and thursday. I ended up meeting the SS at the house and we went through and basically did a mini PCI without intending too as this was the first time he was able to get to the house since his break. He wanted to reschedule until next wednesday which we discussed at length before i decided to still have PCI thursday. At the end of the day, it is only carpet, which will be getting laid during my PCI and if i have any issues i will bring them up. He said he didn't want to present the house to me unfinished but if that is what i wanted he was okay to go ahead. To me i figure i know the carpet is going in and i know the house is going to be cleaned on wednesday so when i get the keys, the house will be complete & in good order. In doing a mini PCI we have already picked up that pavers in the driveway need to be replaced as they are chipped, the air con company have to come back and put the fuse in the switch box which is happening tomorrow, the front render needs to be fixed then painted, a blind which was installed is now MIA (assumed to not have been measured properly so needs to be refitted), they were working on the rangehood when i was there as there was a beam across where the exhaust pipe cover had to go, and a tile in the linen closet has to be put back into place. Painting will be done on Saturday due to the flooring delay. I received my final invoice today so this has also been sent off to CBA for processing. At this stage my SS thinks i should have keys next Friday which i will be thrilled with! Re: First Build with Summit Perth WA 337May 30, 2018 12:49 pm J278 Wahoo! So proactive of you, well done! My broker said 5-10 days for me at this stage. We will be getting keys around the same time Thanks!
