Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Rawson build in Cameron Park 23May 22, 2018 2:48 pm Oh I forgot to mention - the landscaper got back to us with a quote for $29600 for retaining walls alone He's pretty good though and suggested we could save $9k if he did the footings, first course and drainage and we did the rest of the labour. I'm looking into sourcing the materials myself from the suppliers to save a little bit more, because my imagination had the whole landscaping done for 30k. Including driveway. Laugh now! Re: Rawson build in Cameron Park 25May 23, 2018 3:09 pm Hi Dr jekl, I'll PM you the landscaper. Thanks for your kind wishes! Re: Rawson build in Cameron Park 26May 23, 2018 3:12 pm We used The Hunter Inspector for our building inspection. Re: Rawson build in Cameron Park 28May 31, 2018 10:47 am Oh no not at PCI yet! We are supposed to be getting tiles done starting today, but I didn't see any sign of the tiler when I went past just now. There are tiles waiting to be laid though! I'm thinking another couple of months to get to PCI but we should still come in under the contract time of 33 weeks. Re: Rawson build in Cameron Park 29May 31, 2018 11:29 am CG Scardycat I'm thinking another couple of months to get to PCI but we should still come in under the contract time of 33 weeks. Oh lucky you only 33 weeks building time. Mine is 43 weeks =[. Their building process is quite quick though as there's a few houses being built around mine that started at the same time or even earlier and my build is going up much faster. I just saw your front porch. I have a similar porch with two steps to go down and it seems like they're not bricking or rendering the porch walls? Re: Rawson build in Cameron Park 30Jun 13, 2018 1:05 pm CG Scardycat It's all action this week. After the downpipes were put on yesterday, the timber feature was done today along with the last of the eaves. I love it and I can't wait to see it stained. Thanks Steeden Re: Rawson build in Cameron Park 31Jun 13, 2018 3:08 pm They aren't doing anything with the porch sides, it's the only thing I'm disappointed with. We will have to paint or tile the sides as well I guess. The timber feature is part of the Vogue facade, I'm not sure how much extra we paid to choose that facade but I think it was worth it! We changed the windows though, we didn't want the very big architectural windows that are part of the Vogue facade. The two front bedrooms will be the kids' and we didn't want to give them any excuse to argue. Re: Rawson build in Cameron Park 32Jun 13, 2018 3:13 pm At the moment, nothing is really happening. The tiles for the wet areas were delivered two weeks ago and are still sitting there, untouched. Of course I'd never ever go on site unsupervised but if I did, my psychic powers tell me I might find the stone on all the benchtops and all the basins in - and my powers are strong enough to tell me that the ensuite basins aren't the correct ones. We changed then to some round bowl-like ones, but I suspect that we have rectangular ones instead. Generally I haven't minded the "let me get on with the job and I'll tell you if there's anything you really need to know" technique our site supervisor uses, but I'm desperate to know wtf is going on. I don't care about there being no action but I'd like to know whether this is something the supervisor expected or if he's having trouble getting the tiler to show up. Re: Rawson build in Cameron Park 33Jul 18, 2018 12:01 pm Hi We are also building a Stroud 30 however are still waiting for the land the register. Did you make any alterations to the Plan ?? I am thinking of extending the family and dining room as they seem a bit small to me. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Re: Rawson build in Cameron Park 34Jul 19, 2018 11:19 am We altered the smaller bedroom at the front (bed 4?) to be the same size as the other one, and that was about it! The family and dining rooms seem big enough to me but I'm coming from some pretty small houses before this! Re: Rawson build in Cameron Park 35Jul 19, 2018 11:24 am So to update: we got hold of the SS and had a walkthrough. He was great about fixing up the basins and actually even started to talk about handover dates! We're looking at the end of August, which is right at our contract date. There's a heap of tradies there today - painter, shelf guy (joiner?) and someone who might be an electrician. We were originally told the plumber was coming this week but I don't care who comes when as long as they all get their bits done! As usual I was so hung up on looking that I didn't take many photos, but there are a couple of the bathroom, powder room and laundry where the tiling isn't finished: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Rawson build in Cameron Park 36Jul 19, 2018 11:42 am CG Scardycat We altered the smaller bedroom at the front (bed 4?) to be the same size as the other one, and that was about it! Good Luck with the rest of the build. Re: Rawson build in Cameron Park 37Jul 20, 2018 1:34 pm Progress: I'm so happy with it. The painter is there today doing external painting, the the nbn guys are hooking us up now, and it doesn't seem like there's too much more to go! I hate the splayed shower screen in the ensuite, but my partner likes it (he always wanted it and I knew I'd hate it but had to give him something) and he hates the paint colour, which is obviously because he has terrible taste he thinks it looks blue. I think it will look beautiful once the flooring and our furniture etc is in. We will have that screen in our main bathroom and neither of us thought it was very nice but couldn’t be bothered looking for something else. 😔😁 Free standing bath looks really good. We have two small kids so the free standing bath just didn’t suit our needs unfortunately. Re: Rawson build in Cameron Park 39Jul 20, 2018 7:38 pm Looks fab! Very similar to our choices in colours so I’m definitely a fan. I don’t mind the shower screen Building the Rawson Edge 39 MKI - https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=89729&p=1756917#p1756917 Re: Rawson build in Cameron Park 40Aug 06, 2018 3:08 pm No more site fence!! The SS was saying flooring goes in this week, carpet next Monday, then PCI and finally keys, probably by the end of August! Just started the Build process for Chifley 42 with Rawson homes, will keep you all posted with the Build progress. 0 3356 Thank you so much everyone. This all makes a lot of sense. I guess when you talk to a builder who butters up everything to look very polished, you get to start believing… 7 19387 |
