Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Individual Design - New Choice Homes 261May 10, 2018 11:48 am Choosy Got our fortnight update from our CL today. Tiling is due to be finished this week. Electrical and plumbing finals next week. I also managed to call in and have a look this morning, most of the ensuite tiling is done and bathroom wall tiling was in progress. Thanks, in hindsight it might have been easier if we had chosen a different height tile as we moved the vanity height up, however it is turning out great. Re: Individual Design - New Choice Homes 265May 13, 2018 1:21 am Splashback tiling 😍😍😍
Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Went in to HN today and a dining table happened to catch my eye. It has a striking resemblance to our splashback tiles so have added it to my growing list of possibilities, especially as the table is available 2.7 & 3 mtr lengths, just needs some black chairs. Hubby was not 100% sure about me changing the shower nib tile from the wall tile to floor tile however now that it is done he has no complaints and should be very happy when the shower area is defined with the glazing. I'm just glad that I don't have 150mm+50mm cut tiles on the nib side with an additional horizontal groutline adjoining a 200mm tile on the vanity splashback with the standard groutline, not that its wrong just not what I invisioned. I hadn't thought about what tile to put on our ensuite nib. I had thought I want the floor tile round the bath - not sure that's the standard? I had thought I want the floor tile round the bath - not sure that's the standard? There is no standard, some people like the baths and nibs the same as the wall tile, some like them in the floor tile and some run floor tiles up a wall so it really comes down to what you like. I like both and had one of each so changing it never bothered me. For me it was just the thought of having the vanity tiles meet at the corner and having a odd grout line on the nib but that's me, if it was divlided by glass and not a nib wall I wouldn't care. Edit*** picture added If I did not change the nib tile the extra grout line would be horizontal like my mock-up pic. By changing the tile size the tiler was able to run the grout line vertical instead. I love progress! I've been wondering when my power meter was going to be installed, i thought it was going to happen last week but still waiting! Need it to be installed so i can get the solar approvals through for the panels. We’d be interested in doing that sometime in the near future it just keeps getting pushed to the back of the list haha Re: Individual Design - New Choice Homes 273May 16, 2018 1:59 am Hey J278, We have a 2kw system on our current house which is not enough for our needs these days, if we had the funds at the time we would have put on a bigger inverter so that more panels could be added when needed. This time will be going for a bigger system min 6kw - max 10kw, I'm getting quotes from places that also do Air-con, in therory they should have a good understanding of what we need all up. Looks like your house faces similar to us (NE ish) so you should have lots of roof space on the (NW) like us. Re: Individual Design - New Choice Homes 274May 16, 2018 11:42 am Did NCH not include air con or did you decide to do this post hand over? J278 I am putting in a 4.4KW system. I was told 3kw would probably be enough however with batteries sure to become affordable in the future more is better in preparation for this. Re: Individual Design - New Choice Homes 275May 16, 2018 12:52 pm Summitlovin Did NCH not include air con or did you decide to do this post hand over? J278 I am putting in a 4.4KW system. I was told 3kw would probably be enough however with batteries sure to become affordable in the future more is better in preparation for this. Some of the other builders we liaised with before NCH were quoting huge prices for a reverse cycle to suit our house so we decided to leave it out and have more choice after handover, hopefully we can get a good price for doing both. The important things is to get a reasonable size inverter so that you can add to it if needed ie possible growing family and battery storage compatible, that said systems appear to be a lot cheaper than 9 years ago. Think of Solar as a investment as it saves you money most days thanks to tbe sun, unlike other household items that cost money. We have had zero maintenance on ours system over the pa st 9 years. Re: Individual Design - New Choice Homes 279May 17, 2018 11:14 pm Thanks J278 & SL, we are very happy with the splash back tiles, I discovered them back in 2016, lucky that they are still around. Managed to stop in this morning and went back with hubby this arvo to find that Intellegent Homes have been and the HWS and Gas cook top are done.
