Browse Forums General Discussion 1 May 03, 2018 9:54 am Hi We have recently purchased land and during the construction of the crossover we had no access it was completely fenced off as we are in a new estate. All of our plans have been drawn up with our crossover on the left and this will mean our living room etc will be on the right and get the best sun in winter and less in summer which is the most efficient. Now that we have settled on the land we have been advised our crossover has been positioned on the other side at councils request and our entire plan needs to be flipped. I have contacted the council and they advised that that is incorrect they never requested that and there is no reason it can not be on the side our plans indicate however all the plans they have always had it on the opposite side and they believe we have been told incorrect information. She said they can approve it to be moved but if the builder and or developer isnt willing to come to the party it will be at our full cost to dig up the one there a d relay the ground and dig out and repour on the other side. I am just wondering if we had to do this if anyone knows what sort of costs would be involved? Council couldn't tell me. And also is this allowed? Can our builder lie like that and then say they are flipping our house without our approval? This is not what we want and its a big deal only because they made such a big deal of how much more efficient this layiut was and because they have been jerks to us this whole process and are charging us a fee for the fact that our title ran late of nearly $5000 so i am so angry and i am upset because i want a nice bright and open house that gets the best of the winter sun and is not stinking hot in summer. I dont know what to do. Please help Re: Driveway crossover 2May 04, 2018 10:56 am Who built the cross over? Builder or developer? Sounds like they built it in the wrong place. I would fight hard for whoever built it to remove it and build it in the correct location. Or at least show you the instruction from council that it should be built where it was (if it exists). Skip your project manager and go to the director or as high up as you can. Don't give up, call every day and ask when it will be moved. Don't compromise your whole house orientation. As a guess without knowing anything about it, if it's just a cross over without any driveway it might cost you about $2000-$3000 to move. It will cost your builder about half of that. Re: Driveway crossover 3May 05, 2018 9:11 am I have a thread on this issue - see viewtopic.php?f=31&t=36297&hilit=crossover We had our crossover moved at our expense in Melbourne's west and the quotes I got in 2010 were around $2,200. 2 2989 I want to build a bigger driveway (without a nature strip) than has been approved under my CDC. I’ve also had a DA approved to build a deck. It looks like I can do this… 0 4893 Very common on rendered homes Smaller suppliers get the lower quality raw materials 6 11968 |
