We are about to go back to square one (or close to it) due to defective building. I have attached some photos of the work that had been signed off by previous Metricon site managers. The work is so far over allowable tolerances that as non builders we have no idea how a "quality" builder can approve this type of work. The issues were highlighted in a report we commissioned with Houspect and to say the least the issues were very concerning. The good news is that we have new construction and site managers and they have acknowledged the poor quality and they are working on rectification plans, however, this will result in delays and I have real doubts we will end up with a "new house" once they take apart what has been installed and put them back together again. The photos are only some of the issues, not all of them. All I would say is ensure that you get an independent inspection for every stage. We struggled to get approval to have the inspection company to come on the site at slab stage and then there was a slight delay getting them onsite following the frame stage. I will provide an update when things are fixed. Re: Building with Metricon 7112May 07, 2018 7:26 pm Met_LibertyVerve Hi all We are 6 months in on a very frustrating build. I would just give them a call to discuss the options and costs. In obtaining the report we wanted piece of mind that all was good with the build. I expected the report to find some small issues, but nothing of the scale Houspect found. Although Metricon have said they will fix it, I have zero confidence at this stage in their abilities for the rest of the build. If you decide to chose Houspect or not, I would definitely have someone check your build through all major stages. That would worry me more. In saying that. Our ss has been so good and on top of things. My private inspector found very minor faults each time. Our ss put a sticker on things that were within tolerance as well. His been great. Metricon need more ss like my one. They really do. Been hearing too many of these horror stories. They need to start hiring decent tradies. My ss never minded a private inspector too. When they are like that. It’s usually cos they have nothing to hide. In fact he appreciates the extra set of eyes. viewtopic.php?t=86597 Re: Building with Metricon 7118May 12, 2018 11:13 pm Hi guys for those who are building with Hebel PowerPanel, when your slab is done, is there a step down around the slab for future Hebel installation? Just got told by my friend about this. And noticed for my slab there is no such slab step down and I’m building with Hebel.
