I have decided to share our building experience on this forum, as have enjoyed following the journey of other home builders, and it’s a good way for other to see our build.
We are building with JG King, who are based in Ballarat, so we hope with this being their home town our build will go smoothly.
To date the process has been slow, but yesterday our site scrape was done, so that is a start.
Below a photo of what our finished home should look like.

Hi, yes have been following your build, let's hope things go better for us!
Well they couldn't go much worse! They have been good about fixing things, just stay across everything! You really need to keep a close eye on them, that goes for all builders. I wish they had me check the purchase orders at the start of the build, that would have helped avoid at least some of the errors.
Today has been more progress, the plumber visited yesterday to place the pipes, and put the water on, today they started to organise the waffle slab, and drilled holes for the piers. This week we have seen more progress with the frames starting to go up. Our building supervisor * has given us an up dated time line, roof on mid January, and brickies to start beginning of February.
My son took a couple of images with his drone.

Frame finished, and roof finished today. (16/1/2018) Windows in tomorrow.
They have kept the build site very clean, no rubbish any where. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Share Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Share

Ooohh it's looking great. We are very seriously thinking about the Barossa 255 and building in Romsey. We'd need a ranch style for the block we are looking at, and this design has such a great layout. Hope the process is going well for you.
A quick up date, The House is progressing well, windows in, plumbing and electrical all roughed in.
Plaster and bricks have arrived and all going well should start next week.
The only delay is the rear sliding door which may hold up brick work.
We met our site supervisor, and we went over the house with him, a couple of minor things missing ( 2 down lights and power point in wrong spot, but all corrected.
We had a massive thunder storm over the weekend, and the strong wind knocked some of the insulation out. This is why it looks messy.

Hi Gilly, I have just discovered your thread but am watching with interest as I am considering this floorplan if I manage to purchase a particular block of land I have my eye on. Have you anymore updates? What type of flooring did you choose?
Our house is moving along slowly, the painting was done last week after 2 weeks delay, the tiler is now working away. He is expected to take 2 weeks as we are tiling a big area. We are using Belga Taupe tiles, l was worried as they look darker, but l compared the samples and my moment of panic was over. I am not entirely happy with the paining, have found a few short cuts, like robes all done in wall colour, ceiling and architraves not white. the other issue was top and bottom exegesis of doors not painted. This is a warranty issue and a bit of a sore point. We are hoping to be in, end of May. Let’s hope so, as from this week we are living in a caravan at our sons, after having to leave our rental earlier than planned. ☹️
A few up dated photos, painting completed last week, although not finished. Tiling commenced late last week. Tiles are Belga Taupe. They look darker here taken through the window than they are. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Share Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Share
I would never build with Fowler homes. I built with them in 2021 and till date maintenance issues are pending. All their existing trades and businesses don't work with…
go upvc window frames
ensure insulation under colorbond. not just sarking, lighter color roof

Even if it's not being sub-divided and you want to keep it as Torrens title,
you will still need to talk to a town planner or Council themselves,
