Browse Forums Building A New House Re: KDR - SE Melb - Simonds Flinders - Waiting for PCI! 592Apr 16, 2018 6:06 pm Met SS at 9am, left 3 hours later with brain strain, lol All went well. Nothing major to be done. Some touch ups here and there, bit of cleaning etc. Gas line still not in so we've given a letter saying we understand that and are happy to proceed. Fingers crossed it's in soon but it's still to just leave the house sitting while we wait. At least this way we can get other things happening. The plan is to go back later in the week to do the PCS. Splash back went in this afternoon. It's a bit darker than I was expecting but still think it will be ok once the oven and range are in and we then get some colour in to the kitchen when we move in. Now we wait and let SS know if we notice the gas line go in. In the meantime I need to organise more concrete quotes. SS is firm on us needing a grate in front of our garage because we have such a small step up from the garage to house. The 3 garage quotes I've got all said no we don't need the grate. Kitchen is looking awesome! My wife is very jealous, she wanted a black kitchen! Haha We don't have much of a step up into our garage either, and no grate (driveway done by Simonds). But, due to the driveway being on a decent slant, I guess it wasn't required..... Hopefully smooth sailing from here on in! It's a lot of info in one go, lol He said they have 7 days but he's also talking about us meeting later in the week to check it out. LOL, we decided early on that we wanted dark counter tops and then worked around that a bit. We're not sure. 3 concreters have all said we don't need a grate but SS is saying we do. We have a decent slant as well. I'm hoping another guy is going to come quote tomorrow, I'll see what he says. How's your house going? All moved in and settled? Any issues? Then we went to the house to break up some old concrete etc to put in the skip because SS has finished with it. Managed to trip and cut my knee on some rusty rebar stuff. Groan. Met a 4th concreter this afternoon who also says we don't need a drain/grate. Though he's knows SS from passing in the nearby estate and is going to talk to him, lol. I was leaning towards charcoal coloured concrete for the driveway but now this guy has been thinking exposed concrete. I'll add a pic of the sample of like. This afternoon we received our final invoice and statement to send on to the bank. Still not gas line. Getting a bit stressed but fingers crossed Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: KDR - SE Melb - Simonds Flinders - PCI Done 600Apr 17, 2018 6:44 pm Bri - I love the dark and moody kitchen. As you said adding anything with colour will make it a feature and you won't notice the black as much. It's a tough gig doing the PCI but the main thing is that there is nothing major and it should all be completed by Monday - pending the gas line. I hope that's soon for your sanity sake. Not sure I get what the deal is with having drainage or not added to the driveway, so I'll just leave that one for you. We have to have it as we have very little slope on our block and we are going to need about four for the side of the house. So are you madly packing - you know that I so jealous of you right now and also thrilled. We were lucky in that our old house was so small (86 square metres) compared to the new house, they were able to take enough readings around the old backyard house before… 8 37085 The biggest challenge will be if you take out a loan and then run out of money - you'll have an incomplete security and lenders do not like this so you can get stuck.… 2 19068 Hi, I am looking into doing a KDR in Melbourne and am contemplating using Kialla Homes. I am looking for feedback on them from others who have built with them. 0 13437 |
