Re: Large windows - Fixed Glass and Louvre or Awning? 5Apr 16, 2018 2:23 pm It depends on how much efficiency and what "look" you are trying to achieve. You already have single glazed and live in Sydney, which is pretty temperate, so if you'd like a more tropical feel, then I would suggest louvres. Re: Large windows - Fixed Glass and Louvre or Awning? 6Apr 16, 2018 5:05 pm I would think you’d get a better airflow with louvres, especially it there’s a second window opening in the same room. One thing about awning windows if they are on the ground floor - mind they don’t open out head/body height into an area where kids are running around! Re: Large windows - Fixed Glass and Louvre or Awning? 7Apr 17, 2018 9:04 am Thanks guys.. I was trying to achieve a 'clean' look on the windows without any middle bar or sash or break in windows.. Which is why only looked at awning or louvres.. Don't have much room for slider and they're old school anyways.. I take the point of airflow.. Exactly what I was thinking too.. Which would be lost with awning opening too far near the ground.. Any idea if louvres are dearer or awning? I know slider are supposed to be the cheapest.. --- I don't have a signature - just this sentence saying that I don't have one - that'll do! And what about price wise? the difference between the 3 (awning, louvres, casement) .. We have the same dilemma- large window, high ceilings- 3.7m. Don’t want to disturb the view of the pool. May go for the vertical mullions to save $$$. Who are you building with? We may be near neighbors 😀 Re: Large windows - Fixed Glass and Louvre or Awning? 15May 01, 2018 9:23 am We got couple of quotes and the louvres are adding about $4k more overall which is not much.. I much prefer a full Louvre panel than awning with a break and sash in the middle.. Dude I'm trying to organize things myself, I'm a partial between an owner builder and a builder.. Not certain though, worth checking up on price if you like it. One of their designs doubles as a pool safety fence and we were going to use it as our pool came right up against the side of our house. But then we had to change that part of our design. Was a shame, would have looked amazing! This all makes a lot of sense. I guess when you talk to a builder who butters up everything to look very polished, you get to start believing… 7 17507 So AFAIk the outcomes of the BAL ratings form part of a clause that allows them to pass these costs on to you.
