If gas, then I think there is something wrong with the settings of your current system, as it should fire up and heat the tank as soon as it is running low on hot water. I don't see why you would revert to using expensive gas every time you want hot water, when at least some of your hot water should be free from the sun right now, and it should be heating with gas when it is not. If it’s electrically boosted, then that is a different story, although perhaps you might need just a larger tank. Yes, that’s what I would do - someone who is a plumber and gasfitter. Perhaps ring Dux and ask them who their service agent is in your area, then they will know your system and be able to diagnose it.
