Browse Forums Building A New House Feedback on house plan 30Apr 05, 2018 11:28 pm I like the courtyard design! But just be aware that it may increase build costs. Worth it though, IMO! Do you have neighbours on the NE side? Don’t forget to consider privacy issues for your alfresco. I’d maximise windows on the left (north easterly) side of the house, and minimise them on the right (South westerly). Maybe put a skillion roof on with the higher side on the right and windows in under the roof, or a pitched roof with a skylight or 2. like a raked ceiling? or just raising one side? second one sounds very expensive Re: Feedback on house plan 32Apr 05, 2018 11:47 pm Hillsbuilds I like the courtyard design! The skillion roof with windows would mean a raked ceiling and yes expensive I’m sure lol. I think having your outdoor area on that side suits the orientation of your house but I wonder how light it will be with the master bed shading the family room window and the Alfresco shading the kitchen window. Then depending on what’s to the right you may get western sun shining in the windows on the right in the afternoon. The eaves there may stop it enough as the house next door would block the sun once it gets low in the sky. Building Monte Carlo 40- Wisdom homes Hi there! Absolutely agree on the wasted space. We have no desire for the master to be that oversized, but it occurred when we increased the depth of the garage. We have… 4 12535 6 55422 |
