Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building Simonds Express - Westbury Premium - East Estat 204Apr 03, 2018 11:49 am So we're in!! What a massive weekend it was moving everything and setting everything up. No surprises when we moved in, we loved it! Still a bit of a mess in places (spare room door remains closed haha) but main areas are mostly setup. Alarm is in, CCTV is in, split system air cons are in and this morning the heater guys came and fixed that up. SS also popped in this morning to make sure all is good. Will be starting some sort of landscaping this coming weekend..... It feels like our home, although we don't have any pics of anything on walls yet, that's the least of our worries at the moment. Wife and daughter are ecstatic and loving it! Here's some pics. We put the blinds up (well my in-laws did) the day we got the keys last week. We were advised by SS when he would be ready for PCI, I then contacted CRC and booked it in..... Not sure if this is standard protocol, I was trying to hurry things up so took the reigns and went with it... I expect there to be quite a few more move in over the next 3 months. Re: Building Simonds Express - Westbury Premium - East Estat 209May 01, 2018 8:24 am So it's been a month now in the house and we have finally gotten the yard ready for grassing. After 16 cubic meters of fill soil and 4 cubic meters of top soil, Anzac day saw the front and back areas ready to lay turf. Turf was delivered on Friday and Saturday for the front and the back, total of 65m2 of turf, we ended up going with Saffire Buffalo turf. We also bought some plants on Sunday afternoon, a few hedges for the sides at the front and some daisys and tom thumbs for along the front. We plan to put these in this coming weekend, weather dependant. Here are some pics of before and after the turf. And it looks like 3 complete houses ready to move in to just about. Hopefully they keep on popping up and finishing, the more neighbours the better, it's very eerie at times. How is your build going pEast? Having waterproofing/ fixing stage inspection next Friday - then probably expecting cabinets and kitchen stuff the week after should go in. It is going to be a bit slow. Can't see much with the scaffolding still up so it's hard for me to tell what stage you're at. Yes the Simonds on the corner now has their fence up. I'm not sure what's happening with the Simonds on the front corner near us though, it has it's blinds in but no fence and no-one has been on site there for weeks! Re: Building Simonds Express - Westbury Premium - East Estat 216May 02, 2018 3:01 pm Check if there’s a gas meter? That was our hold up. Re: Building Simonds Express - Westbury Premium - East Estat 217May 03, 2018 10:22 am Bri1234 Check if there’s a gas meter? That was our hold up. There's definitely a gas meter there. They were broken into some time ago, which caused part of the house to be flooded....perhaps that is still being repaired? Time will tell..... Another Simonds build diagonally opposite us now has fence up and driveway in, we expect them to move in within a week or two from now. Yay, a neighbour! Haha Re: Building Simonds Express - Westbury Premium - East Estat 218May 28, 2018 1:10 pm We have managed to get our front landscaping complete over the weekend, thanks to the perfect Melbourne weather! So for the time being, we have nothing to do outside! We have covered all mud areas with crushed rock, level and ready for concrete once we save some more $$$ and decide exactly what we want to do. Grass isn't dead and is going well, plants are in the front! Now we can concentrate on inside hahaha Crushed rock down side and around backLike ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Left of driveway, Metrosideros Tahiti hedging. Mainly because we still need to get the back fence replaced. Don’t really want to do the yard and have it messed up. All being well the fence will hopefully be done in the next couple of weeks. Plus turns out the neighbour on our other side is happy to replace that fence too. Yay.
