My friend is actually the concretor who laid the slab, so he came around and set it all up and I gave him a hand. If you're going to do it yourself, I highly recommend doing it a few days prior and getting them to inspect that they are happy with what you've done. If they need changes then you at least have a few days to sort it. Determining the heights and falls etc is pretty detrimental to the finish, so needs to be done right. I was still a starving student back then, have definitely learnt our lesson. Some things have to be done before we move in or they just never get done. Good on you for still being able to get into a house at that stage! I could never even think of doing it if I was studying. I also didn't want to be looking around and seeing unfinished work around the house, so getting it all done was a must for us. Hoping we might get a slab in the next few weeks so should probably find one. my new build thread- Ben Trager https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=89826 my switch build thread (2011) https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=36569 Re: First Timer (Built By Momu @ Calleya) 312Mar 23, 2018 10:41 pm Hey Tink, we sure did, we used Cap-It-All. They were really friendly and easy to deal with and the report they made was good too! Robe fitouts have started as has the skirting. Got the skirting down in the 3 spare bedrooms, ready for the carpets to go in this week. How hard is the skirting to put in? we are thinking of doing the same. Just makes it look a bit smarter. Re: First Timer (Built By Momu @ Calleya) 320Apr 08, 2018 6:57 pm Depends which way you want to do it. Glue and nail is easier but you can't remove them without destroying the boards, so we dowel led and screwed them so they can be removed if they ever need to be. I agree about looking a lot better with them on!
