I just find it odd that the frame will be done then next Wednesday it gets measured for tin then I have to wait another 5-10 days for it to go on? I wonder if the fascia and gutters are being cut to size, numbered and delivered ready to go or maybe they like some tilers who are contracted to the tile company not the builder. Hi Choosy the SS words were the tin. The fascias are already delivered I think I might just ask him why the tin needs to be measured out and not just delivered. i would’ve thought that it could’ve been calculated prior is all Re: First Build with Summit Perth WA 165Mar 08, 2018 3:17 pm Summitlovin Choosy Summitlovin It’s great isn’t it 😊 is anyone able to shed light on if it’s standard for them/builders to do the frame then measure and order the colourbond or it that is usually calculated prior & then delivered. Maybe the roof sheets are also cut to size before delivery and a site measure is done to eliminate waste and/or errors. Ours was the same, fascias, gutters, downpipes were all delivered/installed then tin measure then later on tin went on. They must do it to be exact and as Choosy said maybe to eliminate waste. Re: First Build with Summit Perth WA 167Mar 08, 2018 6:49 pm Thanks guys. I can definitely see the point of measuring once the frame is done for waste prevention, just thought it would’ve been for the most part pre-calculated 😊 Re: First Build with Summit Perth WA 168Mar 08, 2018 8:27 pm Surely they know how much they need +- 10%. Can't seeing the area needed to roof changing too much. Our roof is going on early next week, and the only finished the frame on Tuesday. Everything is looking good. How often are you guys getting to the house? Re: First Build with Summit Perth WA 169Mar 08, 2018 10:00 pm Mathew_Nikki Surely they know how much they need +- 10%. How often are you guys getting to the house? According to my SS the main long lengths need to be measured exact to size and the rest can be cut on site. Good of him to take a moment to explain the process to me. Definitely can't fault his communication. How exciting, i can't wait for the roof to go on. Then it will look and feel more like home Have you guys been given a rough timeframe until completion yet? During bricks i was out there pretty much every second day. Last week i got out there twice as it was a lull kind of week. I think for the most part as the bricks are done i will be visiting site 2-3x a week. What about you guys? Re: First Build with Summit Perth WA 170Mar 08, 2018 11:22 pm Re: First Build with Summit Perth WA 171Mar 08, 2018 11:31 pm Hey spiffmiff! I think it will go up pretty quick once the materials are on site like yours. The 5-10 working days to from measurement is what has thrown me a little bit! My friend had her roof done in under 2 weeks but this seems like the frame/measuring/installation will take 3-4 weeks. I guess they are making up for that by doing everything else in one day! Re: First Build with Summit Perth WA 172Mar 08, 2018 11:37 pm Similar to our timeline I think. Roofing finished on 27th or 28th, sheeting delivered on 7th, and installed on 10th. Things happened super quick after that - glazing on 12th, plasterboard delivered by 14th. Re: First Build with Summit Perth WA 173Mar 08, 2018 11:45 pm spiffmiff Similar to our timeline I think. Very much looking forward to the next few weeks & months of progress. Hope you guys are enjoying your new home Re: First Build with Summit Perth WA 174Mar 08, 2018 11:49 pm Yes definitely, the next few weeks/months will be so exciting! Love the new house, though the moving/organising new house/sorting out old house for sale not so much Re: First Build with Summit Perth WA 175Mar 09, 2018 1:16 pm Glad your SS confirmed what I thought, I didn't think that they would be wanting to cut all the long roof sheets onsite when you can order them to the exact length. Re: First Build with Summit Perth WA 176Mar 09, 2018 7:55 pm 2 days worth of progess. The frame to me looks done, or almost done. They've installed some hardiflex which i didn't expect to see just yet & started the fascias. Even mum agreed that it now is starting to feel as well as look more like a home. It’s always exciting to go out to the house and see more done than expected. I had a win today in regards to filing for the splashback behind the cook top. At prestart I elected to stick with the builders standard amount of tiling but after thinking on it some more I’ve decided I’d like the whole wall done. I was concerned I would be charged a variation but I guess as I’m not at tiling stage just yet they’re happy to not charge the fee. Just waiting to find out how much extra it would be to do it! We extended our laundry tiling behind the washing machine from the skirting tile to top of splashback for $ 110.00. hi guys. Please be nice. First time home builder in Qld.
