But that's why these forums help, cause we are all in the same boat. So did you guys decide to extend in the end? Yes we did. My partner finally compromised on this one and I will let him upgrade the tile lol. No idea how much it will cost. We have tile for living area and carpet for bedrooms. The standard tiles are ceramic 45*45 but we think that size is quite small. Looking either to upgrade it to 60*60 or the timber-looking ones. We have $10k gift card to use on upgrades. Will need to use that money wisely. I think electrical upgrades will cost about $3-4k easily. Re: BOLD LIVING CALYPSO 189 - FIRST HOME - BRISBANE 11Feb 11, 2018 4:45 pm Hello Daisy, I found your thread great floor plan you have picked too. I do agree with Gr8ly about adding the space, it’s normally around $900 per m2 to add space under eave. (You will end up with a bulk head too) In saying that what is your block orientation? Have you got your disclosure plan? 450x450 tiles are a really good size, if you go to 600x600 tiles there is a upgrade cost and I think a lay cost. We went with the vinyl plank flooring at no extra charge Looking forward to seeing more Re: BOLD LIVING CALYPSO 189 - FIRST HOME - BRISBANE 12Feb 11, 2018 5:08 pm yep 600x600 porcelain tiles are definitely a lot more expensive. We are getting it and it's costing us a fortune.. as Tribe7 mentioned - because of the extra labour costs involved. i think polished concrete would have been cheaper. 450x450 is a good size if you can find a tile you like. your 10K gift-card will go really quickly haha! But get what you love! especially if you plan to live there a long time Re: BOLD LIVING CALYPSO 189 - FIRST HOME - BRISBANE 13Feb 11, 2018 5:22 pm Tribe7 Hello Daisy, I found your thread great floor plan you have picked too. We were thinking of going with vinyl plank as well but then changed our mind. Will see how much the numbers all add up at the end lol. We are quite tight on budget so will have to weigh up all options carefully. Will have to wait until the colour appointment to see how much it will all add up. I have learnt a great deal of self-control already lol Re: BOLD LIVING CALYPSO 189 - FIRST HOME - BRISBANE 15Feb 13, 2018 11:47 am Hey Daisy - will follow along your build. We will probably start to compile a list of rectifications closer to the 6 month mark - we are otherwise doing pretty well in our new place and I hope it all goes smoothly for you Let me know if you have any questions or if you think I could help with anything. Re: BOLD LIVING CALYPSO 189 - FIRST HOME - BRISBANE 16Mar 01, 2018 8:23 pm Got our colour appointment booked for 27th March Bold has been really good so far in communication. Now we just need to wait for the land to be available for bank valuation and soil test to see whether we can go ahead with this build. If the bank valuation comes back short, we're screwed Re: BOLD LIVING CALYPSO 189 - FIRST HOME - BRISBANE 20Sep 02, 2018 5:15 pm September-18 I have abandoned this post for a while. Have been so busy with work and finalising all the details for the contract. We second-guessed pretty much everything in our plan until the last minute before we sealed the deal. Who would have thought choosing the location for the hot water system would have caused too much drama and delayed the final working drawings by 2 weeks. Anyway, we were happy with its final location given the size of our house and our block. This week we had the frame on. We met with our SS for the first time and he was super duper nice. He is also very good at communication. He calls us every week to keep us informed of what’s coming next week so we can check the work out when we are on site. Can’t be happier. We have had a minor hiccup as any other build but the SS had quickly responded to it and assured us it will be rectified. We trust him and are not too fussed about it yet. There is another concern that just came up yesterday when we checked out the frame but not sure if it is actually a problem. We will contact our SS tomorrow and see what happens. I will let everyone know later. So far we are very happy with Bold and have not yet regretted anything with our choices. Hopefully this will carry on till the end of the build (high hope I know).
